Meet Nalini Nadkarni - a pioneer in tree top/canopy ecology! Not only is she a leader in the scientific community, but she is an innovator in toy creation! Did you know? Today marks 58 years since John Glenn blasted off into space and became the first American to orbit Earth. This mission, completed in the Friendship 7 capsule, was a success due in no small part to the incredible Katherine Johnson, an extraordinary black, female mathematician, who calculated the trajectories for the mission in order to make sure Glenn and his ship would land safely back on earth. Women have historically been underrepresented in Science, Engineering, Math and Technology fields. The UN reports that today, just 30% of researchers worldwide are women, and only 35% of all students enrolled in STEM related fields of study are women. At Summer Camps at The Tech, we are proud to offer female identifying campers the chance to have exclusive access to special sessions in our Engineering and Technology summer classes - We offer Girls Only sessions of robotics, coding, as well electrical and environmental engineering courses.
