Today's 2019 Bell Scholar Recipient Highlight is: Abbas Chahine! Humbled from experience, Abbas Chahine is a quiet, yet sanguine in character. Abbas is attending Long Beach State, pursuing a future in engineering with the goal of improving research and understanding of topics that have been difficult to teach. His lifelong goals are to be a knowledgeable and compassionate person. Issues such as global warming and cleaner energy sources to minimize pollution. Balancing AP clas...ses with training for basketball taught him the importance of sacrifice to achieve his goals of changing the world. A varsity basketball player of 4 years, Abbas learned countless leadership qualities and valuable lessons on the court which he will use to help his community and more. He has overcome constant barriers and painful moments to be able to represent Lebanon and his home, Bell. He lives by a saying of Imam Ali (as), "It is better to listen to a wise enemy than to seek counsel from a foolish friend." Current Bell High School Seniors, this could be you! 2019 Bell Scholar Recipient: Zeinab Ferdous Zeinab graduated from Bell Senior High Gifted Stem Magnet. and is attending California State University, Los Angeles majoring in Mathematics. She was part of the stem magnet for 4 years which helped her prepare for college and the future. Zeinab enjoys reading books, spending time with her family and friends, going to the park and studying mathematics. She is pursuing a political science major, with a minor in spanish and neuroscience. Her goal is to pursue law school, in hopes of becoming a lawyer. Studying at Cal State LA, he hopes to accomplish this goal by educating himself and others about the importance of staying physically active and taking care of ones mind, body and soul. Throughout Gerardo's life, he has faced several hardships, but prides himself on always seeing the silver lining rather than dwelling on the negatives. He is generous by nature and it brings him great joy when he is able to share his successes with his family and friends. Today's 2019 Bell Scholar Recipient Highlight is: Hussein Hijazi! Hussein is attending California State University, Fullerton and is the first person in his family to not only graduate from high school, but the first to attend a university. Throughout high school Hussein successfully balanced playing basketball, taking multiple AP courses and maintained a job.
