Maol - Galic for bald... Now Jack. He first came to us months ago unable to be touched he hurt so badly. His skin condition was from demodex, but had gotten so bad he had infections. A simple monthly pill would have prevented all of his suffering. We had to sedate him in order to examine him and give him his much needed baths. Slowly over time he started feeling better. Gently touching us, playing, making friends, touching grass for the first time. Once he was a...ble to be touched with more ease, he went into a foster home. In addition to our free food program, affordable pet supplies, and low cost vaccine clinics we want provide a much needed low/no cost spay/neuter to pet owners. Sadly, Contra Costa, especially east county, has zero options for affordable pet alteration. By having our ow...n surgical suite, we would be able to finally provide the community access to affordable veterinary care for their pets. We know this is a big ask. A fully outfitted surgical suite will cost tens of thousands of dollars. One of the easiest ways you can help is by celebrating your birthday with a fundraiser supporting Furry Friends Pet Relief. Go to your ‘home’ page, and look on the left side column. You should see the ‘fundraiser’ option under Create at the bottom. Click on fundraiser and Facebook will walk you through it. 3. Contra Costa County has a lack of affordable spay and neuter resources. We are actively working to become said resource. Pictured are a few items we need to get started. Many other items will be needed as well that are very costly, we are looking at into maybe $50,000 if not more. These flea collars don't work, and are a waste of money. They cause irritation to the skin and have a very strong smell which is irritating to the pet as well. We have Frontline, Advantage, Revolution topical treatment. We also have Seresto collars for cats. If you want oral flea treatment, we have Simparica for dogs by rx only. Maol is in need of some very soft bedding. He is able to handle having a blanket placed on him as long as they are soft and light weight. He will need shirts too, but we won't be able to put any clothes on him for a few weeks. His skin is so painful, he bleeds when he's picked up. Due to the recent events I figured I would make a post just so everyone knows! Female opossums carry their babies in their pouch and on their back for up to 3 m...onths. 95% of them are immune to rabies. One single opossum can eat up to 5,000 ticks a year. They also eat snakes, rodents, dead things. They are natures clean up crew. If you hit one, please take a second to check for babies. If you find them, please rescue them. They can not hurt you and just need a warm place until they are at a wildlife rehab center. If you are local to me, I will gladly take them and get them where they need to be! They are one of the smartest animals ranking with the pig (pig is number 3) and so misunderstood. Save the babies!!! See more
