Day 233 Namaste. #ashtangayoga #6daysaweek

Practicing yoga early mornings during the colder time of year goes beyond warming up the physical body (for me)... I have to be in the mood. Dopamine (reward/pleasure, memory and motor skills neurotransmitter) turned on helps... Sometimes I take l-tyrosine amino acid, precursor to domaine, before yoga. This morning it made a huge difference. Day 225... #ashtangayoga #nadishodhana #dopamine #mood #neurotransmitters #motivation

All the reasons why I still woke up this morning for my ashtanga yoga practice, even though I have a free day to do whatever... including sleep in. Pictures paint a thousand words. Day 205. Zen alarm clock with bells timed out perfectly. Lots of deep sleep for muscle recovery and lots of rem sleep for brain recovery. Coffee in my heart mug. Heater with humidity. Saiga looks forward to yoga time. Zoom mysore class community. Extending my neck for 2 hours to get my inner tur...tle to break free. Basking in the euphoria of a headstand with arms fully extending. Final stretch to shoulders, hips, sacrum, neck, with kitty head-butting me and purring. Namaste. #sleepingrituals #deepsleep #remsleep #ouraring #sulawesicoffeebeans #oatmilk #heater #timewithkitty #ashtangamysorecommunity @johnberlinskyoga #innerturtlecomingout #nadishodhana #ashtangayoga #nervoussystemregulation #breathingexercise #immunehealth #functionalmedicine

Third series, still adding back on one asana at a time. Taking extra time to feel where I could have developed habits with movement that have not been optimal. Today I added on Eka Pada Bakasana B, which to me is the easiest of the arm balances. I gave myself time today to learn more from it, rather than just breeze by. It’s an awesome chance to feel my back and shoulder muscles that shoulder be working during all the arm balances, but are challenged. Even with easy asanas, t...here is something to learn. I played around with different angles and depths and help each side 8 breaths. During the exit, I knew I was done for the day because I cannot keep the integrity in chaturanga. Secretly I knew I would figure out more today at @drchappy1 for my sports medicine tune up. I learned that I’m evolvingnot the same repetitive issuesand now need to befriend and mentally dissect my subscapularis internal rotation. #ashtangayoga #shouldertraining #functionalmovement #sportsmedicine #sthirabhaga See more

Day after a rest, time for extra muscle recovery always feels nice. This finishing asana is my favorite for nurturing the sacrum after deep forward bending foot behind head asanas. #musclerecovery #newmoon #ashtangayoga #sthirabhaga Day 185
