Ciao FUMCCV and FUMP families! You are invited to a virtual family friendly cooking class by Chef Christian Gritti! The Gritti Family is a FUMP family. Chef Christian Gritti is from Bergamo, Italy. He attended culinary school in San Pelligrino, Italy (yes, like the fizzy water) where he graduated top of his class! He is a fifth generation chef. His family has owned a hotel/restaurant since 1896. Bergamo was ground zero for the COVID19 crisis, in fact he lost his grandfather ...to COVID19. Nonno Carlo ran the hotel/restaurant that has been in his family for over 125 years in Italy. When Christian was just 5 years old he would set him on a chair to watch him cook. He was his inspiration for becoming a chef, and for opening the restaurant The Gritti’s now have called Pasta y Basta in Rosarito, Mexico. They opened the restaurant in June of 2015 and have 12 employees that they have vowed to keep through this COVID19 crisis and hosting virtual cooking classes has helped us do that and supplement their income. This time, however, 100% of the class proceeds will go to our dear FUMP. Through the years, We have had over 200 satisfied students, classes have been a great success, and the private classes are Chef Gritti’s favorites because they are so fun! The first fundraiser class will be held via Zoom on Saturday, September 26th at 11am. The class will be 1 hour in length and children and their parents or grandparents will be making gnocchi and marinara sauce! You won’t want to miss this family fun class. Space is limited and the cost is $45 per household. If you would like more information about this virtual class, how to reserve your space, or how to sponsor a family for this fundraiser, please email [email protected]. Thank you for your support!
But the church can’t be the church unless we’re allowed to meet on Sunday in our auditorium!! The government is imposing restrictions on our freedom to worship God!!
This is the exact reason why our Bishop, Grant Hagiya, and our Local Church Campus Reopening Task Force, led by Dr. Jennifer Poast, is being so cautious about opening our campus. Our freedom to worship in whatever way we choose is important, but let us not falsely believe it is more important than someone's life. As Methodists, the phrase "do no harm" is central to our christian ethic.
