Some welcomed rain this morning to naturally water all the plants installed this season. Parts of California are still in drought conditions but it’s always a great idea to conserve water.

Landscape architecture comedy.

A versatile plant we like to use on our projects is Dietes bicolor (dy-AY-teez BY-kul-ur) Fortnight Lily. It’s an excellent low maintenance, drought-resistant evergreen perennial that grows in clumps 2’-3’ tall and wide with unique light yellow iris-like flowers. Once established, it needs only occasional watering. USDA Hardiness Zone 8-10. @ Sacramento, California

Great temporary landscape architectural art installation to breathe some life into a completely hardscaped & underused public space. Urban artist SpY temporarily transformed Madrid’s Plaza Mayor into a turf-covered green space to mark its 400th anniversary. Over four days, some 100,000 Spaniards and tourists came to sit and chat on the circular lawn, simply named Cesped or Grass. (From ASLA’s ‘The Dirt’)
