Tonight I was proud to have the honor of promoting (much to his surprise)Tim Fuentes to Shodan (First degree black belt). Tim worked many years to achieve this ...promotion and my yudansha and I have been watching him carefully and have been amazed at his dedication and progress. Thus, tonight he achieved both his ikkyu rank (First kyu brown belt [the rank just below black belt] AND his black belt. An extremely rare occurrance in my interpretation of Aikido. This was an amazing Christmas present for me. See more
