Nutrition program undergraduate student Hannah Heath was awarded with the 2021 Doris A. Howell Foundation CSUPERB Research Scholar Award recently. Her project is titled, Impact of Pre-pregnancy Lifestyle Intervention on Gestational Diabetes Prevention via Improvement of Metabolic Markers". This is an award given to Cal State University students to fund promising undergraduate student research projects in topics related to women's health that are biotechnology-related. This... was a CSU-wide award that provided student scholarship funding. Posted @withregram @calpoly_cafes Lauren Thomas, who completed Cal Poly’s Dietetic Internship program last year, is now a registered dietitian for the San Luis Coastal Unified School District working to bring local, nutritious food to schools. Thomas, along with three current Cal Poly interns, Holly Pelton, Carisa Hilton and Sarah Tamayo, are building more relationships with local farmers to promote farm-to-school meals throughout the district. Recently they delivered jujubes, a little-known nutritious fruit, from a local farmer to the schools where they will be shared with students to broaden their taste buds and understanding of nutrition.
