Beloved of God! Heaven, 24/7 like 7-Eleven They seek me day after day. Isaiah 58:2... Can you imagine if all of us sought him day after day? What if we went after with all we’ve got what we pray for in the Our Father? What if it was most important to replicate with our lives here on earth what the saints are doing in heaven? After all, that is what we are seeking. What does that look like? That is the question of our prayer. Maybe you do not have them around your parts but I have them around my parts. I do know they are in 38 states and territories and about 2,100 cities. They are a convenience store called 7-Eleven and they are always open for business, 24/7, 365. Always open for business- just like Jesus. But the product of 7-Eleven is far inferior and does not last. Greasy hot dogs, junk food and slurpies are just not going to do it for us. What we want is our prayers answered and to live like the saints in heaven and only Jesus can make that possible. Good thing he is open 24/7 like 7-Eleven to make that all possible for us. So, when you see a 7-Eleven or other store that is always open, think Jesus is open all the time to make us his saints. There is much more to this 7-Eleven story. One day in prayer with the scriptures the Holy Spirit light came on once again in my feeble mind. Yes, God is constantly amazing! I was reading the following passage (which you should commit to memory and let it transform your life): Ask, and you will receive. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. For the one who asks, receives. The one who seeks, finds. The one who knocks enters. Who of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf, or a poisonous snake when he ask for a fish? If you, with all your sin, know what to give your children what is good, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to anyone who asks him? Mt. 7:7-11. Did you notice the numerology of the scripture site about asking and seeking and knocking? It has the verses 7-11 or, should we say, 7-Eleven? Just like the store that is always open, so is Jesus always open to our asking, seeking and knocking. And what does Jesus want to supply us with? The heavenly way of living. He wants to shower down heaven on us, 24/7 like 7-Eleven. Do you know that the biblical number for heaven is? 7! So, each time we think of Matthew 7, we connect that with verses 7-11. Combining the heaven of Matthew 7 with the verses 7-11, we believe Jesus is offering us heaven all the time, 24/7 like 7-Eleven. As Merton said, The gate of heaven is everywhere. Could life be any more exciting if we truly believe this? I hope you never look at 7-Eleven the same way again! Heaven, 24/7 like 7-Eleven, +Fr. John

YOU ARE LOVED Praying for all the men that went on this weekend's retreat.

I’m going to go to confession now! You have to pray for me! I get one day a week off and that is Monday(although there are usually a few hours of work on most every Monday morning that garner my attention). Well, last Monday I did not do so well on my diet. The pictures below are what I did to eat myself way through the day. It all unfolded like this: In-N-Out Burger at 11:30 AM; Costco hotdog and Coca-Cola at 2 PM; leftover Round Table pizza at 5 PM followed by leftover s...paghetti at 6:30 PM topped off by Dryers chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream! I know, not good! But it sure tasted good! Kind of like sin, it can taste good temporarily but it’s really not good for you at all in the long run, in reality. If my entrance into heaven is judged on my diet, this would not be good! So there you have it, my confession! Please pray that I make better decisions with my diet! Could not, not share! A beautiful reflection by an eighth grader from St. Charles Borromeo Academy. "Today Father John spoke about many things but the homily revolved around guardian angels. He spoke about the angels that protect us and that got me thinking, people who you know and love, people who strive to help you get success, they are angels. He used a story about a pilot who had lost his radar in a storm, who all of a sudden his radar came back on. The voice on the othe...r end directed him back to an airport nearby. He arrived and to his surprise no one was there. His guardian angel had saved him. This led Father to talk about how everything one sees is temporary. This made me think about existence, and how, as proven by Harvard studies, each person strives for happiness in the temporary things in life. But they never achieve total happiness. But then Father talked about God’s love and the things that cannot be seen and are never-ending. To me, this proved that in order to achieve total happiness one must put their faith in the unseen things in life. In doing so, one will be connected to God and that happiness, joy, love and grace that God shares with all of His creations will be amplified for those who accept Him. As we accept Him, our guardian angels help us to see Him and be with Him. As we put our faith in God, and all of the unseen things in life, we are actually able to live it fully. If we embrace our Lord, He will show us love that we could have never imagined, a love that is so deep, that only those who accept it into their hearts, will be able to feel the full effect of it. Once one fully embraces God, true love and happiness will be experienced." See more

The Academy is doing the APEX Leadership Program again, and this year it will culminate in a dance-off/P90x type event, where students get sponsors for each dance move that they complete (up to 36 moves).
