In honor of Dia De Los Muertos, we at DeYoung Memorial, Frisbie-Warren and Carroll and DeYoung Shoreline Chapel have set up an alter to honor the loved ones of those who have passed. We are inviting all families we have served to come in an add a framed 4x6 photo of your loved one from now until November 2nd, to our DeYoung Memorial Chapel location at 601 N. California Street. Our hours are Monday-Friday 8:30AM - 5PM.

Miles Nielsen Johnston February 16,1922 - August 8,2020 Miles Nielsen Johnston, age 98. passed away August 8, 2020 in Stockton, California. Miles was born February 16, 1922 in Delta, Utah to Harold Lee and Edith Anna Johnston. The oldest of 4 children he was followed in birth by Beth, Norma and Bryce. His father worked for the Western Pacific Railroad and the family moved from Utah to Calpine, California, a railroad town on the Feather River Route, and then to Stockton, Cali...fornia. Miles enlisted and served in the Army Air Corps from 1941-1945 as a radar mechanic in New Guinea and India during World War II. He was awarded 2 Bronze stars for valor. After returning home from the service in 1945, Miles met Jenalyn Cline and they were married April 18, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah by the president of the LDS church. They were blessed with 5 children, Niel, David, Nancy, Bruce and Janet. Jenalyn passed away December 16, 1960 and is buried next to his final resting place. Miles graduated from University of the Pacific in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Miles worked as a chemist, accountant, and retired as a librarian for the City of Stockton. Miles was a lifelong member of the LDS Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, reloading his shells, casting his own bullets, fletching his arrows, making lures and tying flies. He loved riding his bicycle. He rode until age 96 when he was hit by a car. Miles is survived by wife Martha Johnston. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jenalyn, his sister Norma Wojciechowski, and his son Bruce Johnston. Miles is also survived by sister Beth Leal, brother Bryce Johnston (Marilyn), son Niel Johnston, son David Johnston (Karie), daughter Nancy Mastroianni, daughter Janet Reichenbach, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great -great granddaughters, cousin Dorothy Tuttle, and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements under the care of Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary. A graveside service will be held 1:00 Friday October 30th at Parkview Cemetery, 3661 French Camp Rd. Manteca, CA. We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. We think of you in silence, we often speak your name. Now all we have is memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake with which we’ll never part. God has you in his keeping, we have you in our heart.
