Purim dawned bright and beautiful this past Friday and FCLA was in total Purim mode as we greeted over 33 families at our Purim in London Celebration!!!! It was incredible to witness the absolute joy and wonder on their faces, as our children, young adults and their families were able to celebrate on this special day. The tables were beautifully set with waving British flags, crowns, trumpets, and authentic British landmarks!! Purim crafts abounded and personal L'chaims were ...on hand for all the happy parents. Rabbi Michy & his band kept the "Beat"les beat going with a musical Purim story and songs that kept the crowd happily dancing at their tables and 6 feet apart! The petting zoo was one like no other as they treated our kids to walks with the King's pony. They were thrilled to be leading him through "Shushan ". The Covid safe face painting gave kids and adults alike some fun and beautiful face and hand art to enhance their Purim get-ups! Two Megillah readings made sure that everyone had a chance to hear the Purim story recounted, and the waiters passed out Mishloach Manot for guests to give to one another. The delicious meal from Mensch bakery rounded out the Purim feast. Everyone enjoyed doing the Mitzvos of Purim among friends and family in a safe yet festive way. Chanukah Winter Wonderland Menorah Lighting was a huge success! 32 families joined together, seated at their own table and enjoyed the event in a safe, socially distanced manner. It was amazing to see all of the smiles, the joy, and the laughter. The families enjoyed singing along to a spectacular Chanukah concert with Dov Rosenblatt of Distant Cousins and the fantastic Fire & Ice show by Mad Science. Families were treated to delicious, pre-packed lunches, latkes, donuts & ...more. All of our children and their siblings loved the Chanukah crafts and each participant received a Chanukah gift of their choice. As always, the menorah lighting was the highlight of the event with several children and young adults who have special needs being called upon to light the candles and recite the blessings. Thank you to the Monkarsh Family Foundation for sponsoring the event! Special thanks to Courtney Mizel and family, Alan Kleinman, and Family 8th Grade Students of Hillel Hebrew Academy, FC Alumni and all those who donated through the Jewish Federation’s gift drive for their help in sponsoring this year's Chanukah gifts. Baruch Dayan Haemet - it is with much sadness that we share the passing of two beautiful souls that were a part of the Friendship Circle family. Dr. Payman Simoni OBM and Hannah Soleimani OBM. They will be missed. May their memories be for a blessing and may their families be comforted among the mourners of Zion.
