Miki Vuckovich and the Tony Hawk Foundation provided technical assistance and moral support while we were fighting to get our park approved and built. We wish Miki all the best in the future.
9 years ago today, when the skate park was just an empty field...
The park is open!!
The Fremont Skate Park is NOT open yet. It's being reported as open on Google, but that is wrong. The City is kind of distracted now because of the protests, but plans to open it "soon" (their word). Stay tuned...
Hopefully we will have a reopening soon.
When you drive by a request like this you can’t say no. Definitely brought back some memories seeing these kids killing it on their starter ramp in the neighbor...hood, so I stopped to skate with them from a safe distance. Hard to see cuz the masks but I was stoked to put smiles on some young faces during these tough times and these kids definitely brightened my day... thanks for the session See more
Bike shops are open. Let's get our local skate shops open!! Please sign and share...
How did that work out for them?
I’m challenging everyone who sees this to order something from our local skate shop, Red Curbs. Let’s keep them in business so they are still here when this is over. https://www.shopredcurbs.com/
Donate at least $25 to the COVID-19 Response Fund for a chance to win a signed skateboard. Your donation will support preparedness, containment, response and re...covery activities for those affected and for the responders: https://pledgeit.org/hawk-relief (just doing what I can with what I have) Check out @gopledgeit for other campaigns (and athlete offerings). From the City of Fremont: Hi Donna, At this time all recreation facilities, playgrounds, dog parks, basketball courts, SKATEPARK, programs, classes, facility rentals are canceled/closed. Fremont parks will remain open for outdoor visitors with recommended social distancing of 6 feet. While City parks and bathrooms are still open, drinking fountains are covered for your protection and not recommended at this time.
The study, funded by the Tony Hawk Foundation, found skateboarding improves mental health, fosters community and encourages diversity and resilience.
Here's an Extra Bit of love from Shane O'Neil, just in time for Valentine's! https://youtu.be/YW68edzbczM
