Dear patients and friends: We are in the process of implementing a Telemedicine service to our practice. It should be ready to go in a few days. In the meantime if you want to have an audio-video conversation with us, please call the office to set up an appropriate time and we can communicate via Skype. This had been approved by the Office of Civil Rights and by the US Department of Health and Human Services. Telemedicine consultations are covered by most insurances and even though they are not ideal, they are quite useful these days. Please let me know what you think. Suggestions are welcome.

We wanted to take a minute to review our most recent actions in response to the current COVID-19 situation. Our office has taken steps to modify our daily office operations in an effort to appropriately care for any of our patients that need us during this time. To that end, we have made the following adjustments and ask for your cooperation and understanding in the coming weeks while we work together to do our part in slowing the spread of this virus. We are asking that if... you have a known or possible exposure to COVID-19 either by direct contact with another person OR through recent international travel, PLEASE DO NOT enter our office without calling first (this includes not utilizing our walk-in hours for COVID-19 related concerns). Our staff has screening tools in order to ensure that we can safely screen our patients by phone and direct you to the correct location for testing and/or other evaluation if necessary. We have adjusted our daily schedules to ensure ample same-day sick appointments are available in all of our office locations. We have modified our well child visit scheduling to group like appointments together to further limit the crossover of sick and well patients in our offices. If we need to adjust your previously scheduled appointment time, we will reach out to you directly. If your child is ill on the date of their scheduled well visit, please call our office to let us know. We will make appropriate arrangements to adjust your appointment if necessary. We have further restricted scheduling of our newborn appointments to limit incidental exposure to sick children while in our offices. We are asking that if at all possible, you refrain from bringing any non-essential family members to office visits (i.e. extended family members). While we recognize that sometimes this is not possible, if you have alternative options for siblings (that do not have an appointment) to avoid bringing them to the office, please consider doing so. Please remember that we are your medical home, especially in times like these! Please do not go to the emergency department or urgent care centers without calling our office first! We are your doctors and we want to make sure you are getting the most appropriate care while also not overwhelming our local resources. Just like many of you, we are following the ongoing developments of this situation carefully and will continue to make adjustments to our operations if necessary under the guidance of the local health departments and the CDC.
