Happy Esthetician Day! In my early 30's I was struggling with hormonal break-outs. I applied a ton of make-up to cover the break-outs and the scars. I noticed my co-worker at the time had beautiful skin, I asked her @villafan559 "what foundation do you use?" she said 'I wear no foundation'. What, no foundation, that immediately became my skin goal, to wear no foundation. She said she got facials and used a professional skin care line. I then started getting facials, starte...d to see the difference in my skin. I decided to change my major from designing to study esthetics. I wanted to learn more about the nutritional side, and the chemistry, how everything worked in the skin. So, here I am 16 years later giving facials. I'm glad it chose me. I love this industry. I love learning. During this pandemic I took a lot of Zoom training with master estheticians, that truly inspired me to get back in the treatment room and share everything I have been learning. A client once said me, 'I sounded like her mom, reminding her to rest, to eat healthy, to never sweat the small stuff, and to be kind to yourself'. I'm kinda of a mama esthetician, I like my clients to rest on the table while I take care of them; just like a mom takes care of her kiddos. Happy Esthetician Day!! . . . Why did Emily become an esthetician?... . Esthetics has become my life in a revolving lifestyle in the beauty industry. I was going through the motions my first year of college but I knew I had to find a path. I found out about a makeup school in the area and thought why not over summer break. The first day changed my life! Not only did I get into the beauty industry but also esthetics because without healthy skin there is no smooth makeup application. I had to find those products not only healthy for my clients skin but also will help me for the makeup application. That’s when the studying started but also the want for more. I grew into the retail world from working at Sephora, Ulta and for Urban Decay. All contributed with some skincare knowledge but I still craved so much more and getting my hands dirty. One day I went to Milan to get a wax and facial from a friend to support her esthetic hours and we spoke about the program. That’s the day it all clicked and I knew what I was going to do after college. I had a year and half left so I took that time working at Ulta to really pick everyone’s brains that would come through to train on multiple brands. That truly helped going into esthetics school not so blind sided. Ever since then it has just been positive growth since! Not only have I come to love the everyday knowledge but also my clients.
