It is with a heavy heart we are sharing news that long-time Fresno Housing family member, Paul Marquez lost his ongoing health battle on February 5th. Paul spent over 30 years with FH, and was recognized as a "go to" maintenance person. Not only was he an important anchor at the Parlier Migrant Center, he was a funny, kind and gentle soul who bonded with staff and residents alike. Often called the "OG" of maintenance, Paul will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of... knowing him. Please join us in remembering Paul Marquez, and offering our heartfelt condolences to his family and children, whom he loved dearly. Fresno Housing's Property Management Division will be dedicating a permanent memorial to Paul at his beloved Parlier Migrant Center.
January 2021, brings new leadership. We are grateful for the many years Stacy Sablan has led as County Board Chair, and look forward to her continued service as a Commissioner. Incoming Chair, Cary Catalano, remains dedicated to meeting the growing needs of our hard working families as they aim to achieve economic success. Incoming Vice-Chair, Nikki Henry, is committed to her continued efforts to enhance resident services. ... County chairs work alongside City Board Chair Adrian Jones and Vice-Chair Caine Christensen. Congrats and thanks to all of our commissioners for their service, including Joey Fuentes who concluded his service on the Executive Committee.

Last night marked a bittersweet moment for the Fresno Housing family as Commissioner and Fresno State First Lady, Mary Castro was recognized at her last Fresno Housing board meeting. Many already know the important role she has played in our community through volunteer service and alongside her husband and the new Chancellor of California State University, Dr. Joseph Castro. What may be less known is that Mary Castro has also served on the Fresno Housing board for nearly ...four years with an unwavering passion for our small rural communities that she describes as being so important to the fiber of who we are as the Central Valley. She has shown up as a champion for our lower-income families, time and time again to demonstrate the generational impact of having a safe place to call home. Mary Castro has supported our educational scholarship program throughout the years, and even helped to provide matching scholarships to Fresno State students. She has demonstrated exceptional leadership and participated in several groundbreaking and grand opening ceremonies. The sincere thank you’s and kind words spoken by her fellow commissioners and our staff last night do not begin to describe the impact that Mary Castro has made on her Fresno Housing family. Commissioner Fuentes captured it best when he said, Thank you for your wonderful work as a commissioner, and for being a friend.not only to me, but my family. Thank you Mary Castro. Thank you for your service, your passion, your commitment, your friendship and so much more. You have made a difference at Fresno Housing and our agency continues to wish you nothing but the very best.
