Please join us in congratulating Division Chief Rick Cory on his retirement from the Fremont Fire Department (FFD)! Division Chief Cory began his career with the City of Fremont in January 1991. He came to the department with an eagerness, enthusiasm, and a passion for learning. In 1998, Division Chief Cory was promoted to Captain and over the next decade he also served as a Staff Captain, Acting Battalion Chief, and Division Chief, successfully leading recruit academy... activities, probationary evaluations, BART coordination drills, the Special Operations Task Force, and wildland training efforts. Chief Cory received multiple commendations and accolades throughout his tenure in each rank for his consistent demonstration of professionalism, tireless work ethic, and willingness to share his knowledge. Division Chief Cory served as a member of the Urban Search and Rescue California Task Force 4 (USAR CA TF-4) and responded with a water rescue team to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. His passion led him to coursework and applied knowledge related to certifications at the Company Officer, Chief Officer, and Safety Officer level which contributed to him lending his talents to Urban Shield (Red Command), the East Bay Incident Management Team, and the development of the FFD Bike Medic program. Thank you, Division Chief Cory, for your 30 years of exemplary service to the department and community. Our best wishes to you on a long and healthy retirement! #FremontFire #FremontCA #FremontFirefighters See more

"As of Tuesday, Cal Fire had not authorized any of its 21 units around the state to begin winter preparations, which would signal the end of fire watch. Heightened staffing and equipment levels typically remain in place until early December, but could stretch longer this year." Are you ready for a wildfire? The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for 5 AM on Wednesday, October 14 through 11 AM on Friday, October 16. A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are happening now or will occur in the near future. A combination of low relative humidity, warm temperatures and strong winds can contribute to extreme fire behavior. All Fremont Fire Department fire stations are fully staffed and throughout the Red Flag Warning extra firefighters will be... on duty to increase fire protection in the City of Fremont. We encourage Fremont residents, businesses and visitors to continue to be very alert and exercise caution when in or around dry vegetation. Visit www.ReadyForWildfire.org to learn how you and your loved ones can be better prepared for a wildfire.
