Good morning Freeway Church!

Who are you? A simple question to ponder. I think we spend our entire lives searching for the answer to this question, and for some of us, many of us, we never find the right answer. At least not the answer that we are looking for in the flesh.... You see, who we are can be found in Jesus Christ. Not the world. Not through possessions. Not through a moment of temporal comfort that is as fleeting as the time between the sunrise and sunset. Who we are can definitely not be found through the number of like’s on one’s feed, or followers on one’s page. A person’s eyes can be opened to who they actually are through the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We can all trudge along in life, moving from one thing to the next. Victory to victory, and defeat to defeat, but without a re-birth and spiritual awakening to who we really are, life in the flesh is one that is based in futility. Once we are reborn we discover who we really are in Jesus, not in ourselves. We discover what our real purpose in life is, and the true gifts that our Father in heaven has bestowed on us all who look to Him 1st. Imagine Jesus emerging from the water, a spiritual awaking to the son of God. New clarity gained in who he was and what was required of him to the benefit of us all. Praise God! Thank you Jesus for saving us all!! We too have a calling! We too have clarity and purpose through Jesus Christ. We have been gifted in the ways of the Lord that must be used to their fullest extent. Use them today! Use them now!! 1 Corinthians 12 NKJV Be unified in spirit, be unified in focus on the goodness of God. Know who you are in God and not in the world. Know who you are as a functional part of the church, and stop searching the groundless global landscape for an identity that you will never find in it. Amen

Thread of division... Today a see a thread of division being sewn throughout society. I see it in our homes, our families and in our relationships. I see the thread of division in our churches and in our faith as well. Make no mistake that the hand of the needle is one that is aligned with darkness and fear, and is controlled by forces that are not aligned with God. We can all agree that the one sure fire way to bring a house down, no matter how well it is built, is to divid...e and concur through conflict, discord, lies and strife, but the house of the Lord is one that stands strong and unified in Jesus Christ. Unified in Jesus Christ and not in the world. 1 Corinthians 1:10 NIV 10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. Mind and thought in JESUS! I feel God is appealing to all of us today to be united in faith, to be together in belief and conviction so that we are strong and not easily swayed by the tide of the world. So today let us remember to continue in a spirit of thanksgiving through all that we encounter. Do so in a way that is confident in faith and belief and do not cower in the face of the devil, his devices and the people in his control. Let us also remain united in calling, purpose, and fellowship. Where two or more are gathered He is in the midst and he is with us today. He is in your home when you are united in prayer. He is with you as you move through your week, and so is your family in Christ. Amen

Fear and anxiety These are two of the most powerful devices and tools of the deceiver. It seems like this is the common narrative of the day, fear and anxiety, and it has been for the last few weeks (at least) of our lives. I have had enoughhow about you? I was out this weekend taking care of some essential business and I could not help to notice something that has developed over the past few weeks of confinement and social practice indoctrination, the absence of engage...Continue reading

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, What is a sensitive subject? Something we don’t want to see or talk about? How do we define a collective community? A group of individuals who are aligned in solidarity? Who now sets community standards? A body that establishes what is best for all? We live in an ever changing world and it seems to be changing more and more every day. As I have watched the news, scrolled through social media it’s hard to find any train of thought tha...t is against the collective grain, at least not one that is voiced or available for long. As we continue to be isolated and confined it has prompted me to think about the church. As I shop and stand in lines at Costco, Walmart, and many other big retailers that have been deemed essential, I think about the church. As I hear of and read about beverage retailers, liquor stores, and marijuana dispensaries being allowed to stay open, I think about the church. As I sit in my front yard, I think about a scared mass of humanity who has now been fed a steady stream of negativity and worse case scenarios, and anything contrary to this narrative is vetted out.....I think about the church. We as a body of believers are unable to assemble as a unified community. We are unable to enjoy the immersing spirit of worship. We are unable to lay hands in prayer in the spirit of the Lord..in person. The consensus is that this practice would be dangerous, self-serving and unessential. But what if we were socially distanced in church? What if we wore our mandated masks? What if we prayed for each other at a safe distance? Would this sensitive subject be deemed by the collective community as a violation of community standards? Here are some questions: Was Jesus’ message ever deemed a sensitive subject? Was Jesus ever displeased with community standards? Did Jesus ever move against the grain of the collective community? What did it cost Him? Just some food for thought this afternoon. God bless you all and I am praying for some normalcy to return to the Church and our lives as believers in Christ. Amen

What God wants us to hear 2 Chronicles 18:7 NKJV So the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is still one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord; ... But I hate him, because he never prophesies good concerning me, But always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla. In reading this scripture we can see that we as human beings generally seek out information and/or opinions that support or promote us and our own. The King of Israel was no different. What a surprise right? It’s a given that when we are immersed in our own way of thinking, we will generally avoid or dismiss any information or thinking that is standing in a position of opposition. Even when the counsel is rooted in wisdom beyond our own devices. That is the wisdom of God. Today we are in a place as a society that is rooted in self-preservation, self-promotion and self-belief. We as believers need to head the call of God and His words of wisdom like we have never done before. Even when the words, or the advice is not what we want to hear, or what the masses want to hear. Dear God help me in seeking and heeding Your call, Your counsel, even when it is against my desires or popular opinion and thought. Help me in remaining strong in my faith and vision in You through all things. Amen

The Silence of Saturday by Max Lucado Jesus is silent on Saturday. The women have anointed his body and placed it in Joseph’s tomb. The cadaver of Christ is as mute as the stone which guards it. He spoke much on Friday. He will liberate the slaves of death on Sunday. But on Saturday, Jesus is silent.... So is God. He made himself heard on Friday. He tore the curtains of the temple, opened the graves of the dead, rocked the earth, blocked the sun of the sky, and sacrificed the Son of Heaven. Earth heard much of God on Friday. Nothing on Saturday. Jesus is silent. God is silent. Saturday is silent. Easter weekend discussions tend to skip Saturday. Friday and Sunday get the press. The crucifixion and resurrection command our thoughts. But don’t ignore Saturday. You have them, too. Silent Saturdays. The day between the struggle and the solution; the question and the answer; the offered prayer and the answer thereof. Saturday’s silence torments us. Is God angry? Did I disappoint him? God knows Jesus is in the tomb, why doesn’t He do something? Or, in your case God knows your career is in the tank, your finances are in the pit, your marriage is in a mess. Why doesn’t He act? What are you supposed to do until He does? You do what Jesus did. Lie still. Stay silent. Trust God. Jesus died with this conviction: You will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay (Acts 2:27 NIV). Jesus knew God would not leave him alone in the grave. You need to know, God will not leave you alone with your struggles. His silence is not his absence, inactivity is never apathy. Saturdays have their purpose. They let us feel the full force of God’s strength. Had God raised Jesus fifteen minutes after the death of His son, would we have appreciated the act? Were He to solve your problems the second they appear, would you appreciate His strength? For His reasons, God inserts a Saturday between our Fridays and Sundays. If today is one for you, be patient. As one who endured the silent Saturday wrote: Be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord (James 5:7 NKJV). A friend of mine posted this truth this morning. Reposting so that all can rejoice and reflect. Today is Saturday, but Sunday is coming!

This seems to be a Palm Sunday like no other in our lives. For most of us, we have been free to immerse ourselves in the celebration that is Palm Sunday, in person, with one another, with brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ. Today is a different day, but the celebration and the meaning must remain the same. We must remain strong in Faith, Peace and Victory through all things, especially now. Palm Sunday needs to remind us that the reign of Jesus Christ is far greater than an...y the mind of man could ever conceive or plan. We have always looked for someone to fight our battles in the present-day world. Yet God had the ultimate plan of sending His Son to fight the final battle over death. This is the greatness of why we celebrate this week. Because of Christ's ultimate sacrifice, we can be set free of death and the finality of the flesh. 1. Celebration and Belief - John 12: 12-19 NKJV We too are in a position to celebrate our King. We have been given the opportunity to lay down our worldly calling for something far greater than what this world can provide. There should be a great celebration today by all who believe. A belief and confidence in knowing that the same spirit that was alive then is alive now. 2. Peace and Life - John 11:23-25 NKJV Peace and life in what? Ourselves? The world? Peace and life in what both are telling us? We must find peace and life in Jesus Christ. A new level of Faith, Peace and Victory in Jesus Christ. Not in ourselves. Not in this world and what it can provide. Peace and Life in Jesus. We have so much to be grateful for this week. The enemy knows that, and you can be assured that he's going to do everything he can to distract us away from the true meaning of what this Holy Week stands for. Don't let him do it and don’t let him win. Don’t let the world win in its effort to distract us from the greater meaning that is found in the peace of Jesus. In this Holy Week, may God direct our thoughts and attention towards what matters most, Jesus Christ our King! 2 Corinthians 9:15 NKJV 15 Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! Amen!

Following Jesus 1. The cost of a follower Luke 9:57-62 NKJV It is music to Jesus’s ears to hear the words I will follow you. The same joy that filled His spirit in this scripture is the same joy that was felt when you made the decision to follow Him. ... The world is yelling at us to trust in it. The word is tilting our heads in the direction of our own understanding and away from God’s. The world is making a very real attempt to pull your hands from the plow today. Be decisive in faith, remain locked in on Jesus, keep your hands on the plow. 2. The joy of a follower Luke 10:17-24 NKJV Jesus rejoices in the Spirit. In the same way that Jesus rejoiced when He saw the knowledge and understanding of His followers mature in the Spirit, He rejoices today with us. We too must continue to grow and gain in faith and understanding of God. Revelation and discernment come as a result of experience, life experience. Viewing our lives through the eyes of the Spirit and not through the eyes of the world is what Jesus wants from us. I pray that this short message allows us to focus on our path with Jesus. I pray that the message is one that ignites us to follow Him with greater commitment regardless of the worldly cost. I pray that we emerge from the current pandemic that has shut down our lives, our businesses, our churches and our homes as stronger believers in Jesus Christ. True believers that have gained new clarity in Spirit and a greater understanding of the cost and joy of following Jesus. Praise God! Amen
