Just Tyra working on her approach to jumps in the Monday afternoon wind. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten footage of her, but she has been doing fabulously. She is also available for a partial lease if anyone is interested. PM for details! #horseforlease #hunterjumpersforlease #hunterjumperleases #partiallease #bayarealeasehorses #bayareahorsesforlease #jumpschooling #windyday #sosolid #showhorse #freeheartstables #freeheartstablestraining #freeheartstableslessons #freeheartstableslessonhorses #freeheartstablesboarding #bayareahorsetraining #bayarearidinglessons #bayareahorseboarding #bayareahunterjumpers

This is a lovely explanation of why horses need to be ridden long and low. The long and low carriage allows horses to develop the strength to begin collection. If the horse is collected too early he doesn’t have the strength through his back to do so properly.

We had a BLAST at the Lone Tree Farm Hunter Pace this weekend! I couldn’t be more proud of how these two horses did especially considering Happy had a meltdown at his first cross country school a few weeks ago and was almost a school master by the end of the weekend. Lucy jumped 7 out of the 10 fences on course even though this is the first time she’s ever gone xc schooling and kept her cool (for the most part) amid all the excitement and other horses jumping on course at her... very first show. And we somehow kept pace pretty well through it all! I can’t wait for the next one and more pictures will follow. #freeheartstables #freeheartstablestraining #freeheartstableslessons #freeheartstableslessonhorses #freeheartstablesboarding #bayareahorsetraining #bayarearidinglessons #bayareahorseboarding #bayareahunterjumpers #hunterpace #firstshow #campingwithhorses #horsecamping #xcschooling #ottb

Happy (belated) birthday to the cutest mare ever! Yesterday was so busy I totally forgot to wish her the happiest of birthdays, but I am so thankful to have Lucy in my life and am so thankful to continue to learn from her. She is truly a special horse who is finally blossoming into the athletic horse I always knew she should be. #happybirthday #latebirthdaypost #bestmareever #lucylootheottb #freeheartstables #freeheartstablestraining #freeheartstableslessons #freeheartstableslessonhorses #freeheartstablesboarding #bayareahorsetraining #bayarearidinglessons #bayareahorseboarding #bayareahunterjumpers

A clip from a lesson this morning. Here we were working on subtlety and using your seat to go, stop, and steer. Elijah had a quick lunge session today to keep him loose and feeling his best. I love how with you this guy always is. He really opens my eyes to the possibilities and the power of your thoughts. #freeheartstables #freeheartstablestraining #freeheartstableslessonhorses #freeheartstableslessons #freeheartstablesboarding #powerofthought #willingness #connection #bayareahorseboarding #bayareahorsebacklessons #bayareahorsetraining #bayareahunterjumpers

Great explanation! I do it a bit differently and train the stop from my seat and relaxation / focus / suppleness from the reins.

Exactly what I was telling a client the other day. Ignoring your emotions and trying to hide them doesn't serve you with horses. You can lie to most people, but you can't lie to your horse. Trying to smother a feeling at best leads to anxiety and at worst leads to distrust. Giving yourself the time and space to just sit with your emotions and feel them brings you back to a place where you can connect with your horse. As always you have to deal with your own stuff before you can deal with your horse's stuff. And that means like your horse you have to experience everything in order to let go of it.

Words do not even describe how Happy I am to have been blessed to ride London yesterday. He has been off since May and on stall rest for 3 weeks now. The difference is incredible! He felt better than he has felt since before we left for RRP last year! We definitely have some strength to build up, but for the time off and being cooped up with only walks around the property he didn't put a foot wrong. : Cynthia #LondontheOTTB #TBMakeoverGrad #saint #recovery #pssm #pssmandmfmawareness #gettingbetter

William Faerber of Art2Ride was responding to a post in his Facebook group about the action of different bit types and why one may be better than another and wrote this gem. I thought it so succinctly explained what contact should be regardless of discipline so I asked to share. "If you are using the bit correctly and have trained the horse correctly, you rarely need more than the weight of the reins. Most people today are taught to keep a constant tension against the mouth o...f the horse which is why they’ve needed to create bits like these mylar bits that put the pressure on the lips. I use only double jointed French loose ring snaffles, The kind with the lozenge between the two sections. It allows the horse the most freedom in its mouth while giving you the most subtle feel once you have educated the horses mouth correctly which means of course that you have educated his entire body correctly so that he can lift his back and will then be able to relax the pole and the jaw, which is what actually allows correct contact with a bit. Any discussion of the action of a bit without understanding these principles is basically meaningless." - Will Faeber (edited to fix typos)

Bath time for London! He looked so shiny after. My secret was @herbalessences shampoo and conditioner with a baby oil rinse after. No itchiness thanks to products he isn't allergic to and the baby oil which hydrates the skin. #LondontheOTTB #bathtime #sudsypony #soapsuds #cleanpony #shiny #shinypony #babyoil #babyoilrinse #handsome

Such a good reminder that horses need to use their backs in order to move properly.
