Very proud of our governor for signing this important piece of legislation into law. Beginning January 2020, childhood victims of sexual assault will have a substantially increased statute of limitations for bringing claims against their abusers. The law also allows for a three year window for victims of sexual abuse to file a lawsuit, regardless of when the abuse occurred.

Crossing my fingers for the passage of AB 218, which would allow persons that were victimized by sexual predators while they were minors to finally get the justice they deserve.

Even after the enactment of California's tougher cell phone laws, I'm getting more and more people coming into my office that were injured by a distracted driver. These statistics highlight the problem, with Los Angeles leading the nation in occurences of distracted driving and, on a national level, cell phones being used in 88 out of every 100 trips! We can do better.

Handling wrongful death claims are an integral part of my practice. However this week I was approached by a family with a completely different type of claim, one for the wrongful prolonging of life, where a hospital failed to honor an advanced directive and resuscitated a patient. As it turns out, these types of claims are becoming more and more common throughout the United States, and the applicable law is still largely undefined.
