Francesco Sullo

The Huckleberry Botanic Preserve, in Oakland, is a beautiful park. I took the footage in 2018 and edited it in May 2020 while sheltering-at-home. The soundtrack is composed, performed and recorded by myself. You can feel the sensation of the closeness of the lockdown, in contrast with the openness of the park.

A tune that was flying around my head since a few nights ago. It was around 2 am and, as often happens, I couldn't sleep.

First post in my new blog. The name comes from my room number at Art Explosion Studios.

Ieri pensavo di lasciare la canzone con una sola strofa, ma poi oggi me ne è venuta una altra e pure una strofetta finale: Comandante ho guardato spesso come tieni il berretto e come osservi il mare pare che lo dipingi mentre stai sul tetto... di questa casa che resiste al sale qui ogni giorno è strano anche se è normale nella nebbia azzurra che ci fa aspettare di avvistare un porto oltre quello stretto che ci cerca e non ci sa trovare Comandante facci arrivare sani e salvi da chi ci sta a pensare Comandante ho sentito dire che vedremo un faro e dietro una radura dove a pascolare è un gregge di balene come falene in cima ad una altura da cui c'è chi dice che si possa udire le onde che si infrangono su una scogliera tutta di corallo rosso come bocche di bambini sopra le altalene Comandante facci riabbracciare questi figli che ci chiamano come sirene Comandante che non hai nessuno sopra il ponte tieni un biancospino e lo annaffi non per farlo crescere vuoi che resti per sempre un ragazzino
