Project: Box beams and Fireplace Mantel Location: Redwood City Material: Reclaimed Douglas Fir The expression, "A picture is worth a thousand words." comes to mind when recounting this project. Everything down to the smallest detail has been thoughtfully created to provide the feel, look and ambiance of an English countryside cottage. As the general contractor for this remodel, Timeline Design of Saratoga, CA left no detail to chance. With our commitment to quality and a...ttention to detail, Framecom was positioned to uphold the exacting standards required by Timeline Design for the architectural millwork portion of this project. With a goal towards authenticity while remaining ecologically responsible, reclaimed Douglas Fir salvaged from an old Ford dealership in San Jose was used for the box beams, corbels and fireplace mantel. All millwork was given a distressed wire brush texture to enhance the look and feel of aged and worn wood. The final touch was the application of a dark brown stain. As supported by the pictures and the homeowner's feedback, the end result is a phenomenal success. We look forward to working with Timeline Design on future projects. Project: Japanese vintage style folding screen Location: Los Gatos, CA Material: Ipe Dimensions: 5' 4" W x 5' 3"H... Framecom has once again joined forces with Zeterre Landscape Architecture, one of the San Francisco Bay Area's premier landscape architects to bring life and artistic creativity to this Japanese vintage inspired folding screen. Due in large to Framecom's success on previous collaborations, Zeterre is familiar with Framecom's aptitude to meet and exceed the needs and requests of the most discerning customers. Fabricated using Ipe, a tropical hardwood noted for its versatility in outdoor conditions, this screen is sure to provide enjoyment for many years to come. Comprised of over 850 individual pieces, the screen was meticulously fabricated using a variety of joinery and techniques. Flush inset panels, half lap and mortise and tenon joinery all ensure durability in an outdoor environment. Project: Flat top canopy pergola Location: Gilroy foothills Material: Western Red Cedar Dimensions: 13’W x 16’L x 9’ 6H (canopy dimensions)... Spring is upon us and the time to begin working on outdoor projects is now. This month’s feature is a pergola. One of our regular clients, Pavers By Design contracted us to manufacture this backyard pergola for a residence in the foothills of Gilroy. Where once there was a wide open space exposed to the full elements is now an area for dining and/or entertaining all while providing relief from the sun. With post to post dimensions of 11’ x 14’, this pergola provides ample space for grilling, dining or entertaining. The canopy was raised to a custom height so as not to interfere with the viewing through the home windows. Project: Circular bench Location: Residence in Los Gatos Material: Ipe Dimensions: 18W x 18H with 5’ 9 outer radius... Framecom was recently contacted by Tamura Design of San Jose, CA; one of the SF Bay Area’s premier landscape architects to provide a circular bench for a residence in Los Gatos. Having assisted Tamura Designs on previous projects, Framecom is well equipped to meet their exacting needs and requirements. Made of ipe, the bench features a one piece bent fascia and top boards cut radially to provide maximum aesthetic appeal. Framecom manufactured the bench as one piece including the mounting posts, enabling the bench to be located, leveled and set with minimal effort by an installation crew. Lastly, the bench was given a coat of oil special purposed for ipe to provide protection from the elements and to enhance the beauty of the natural wood. Helping to satisfy another customer’s vision, Framecom looks forward to working with Tamura Designs.
