FPCPA had a team that was part of this! One quarter of the money raised stays local and is given to Ecumenical Hunger Project.
Tomorrow, May 6, is Coastside Gives Day--the day Puente sets aside to raise funds that support farmworkers and their families in and around Pescadero. This year, they hope to raise enough money in one day to qualify for a $75,000 matching grant. Since FirstPres has had such a long relationship with this organization, let's do what we can to help them over the top. https://www.coastsidegives.org/puente
14,330 people have died from gun violence so far this year. (ref: https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/ ) There are folks within our own congregation who have been directly touched by gun violence.
A Prayer In Response to Gun Violence Let us lament with all those who are touched by gun violence Let us lament the shooter’s choice for violence Let us lament laws that allow violent men easy access to guns... Let us lament our politicians’ unwillingness to work for change Let us lament with the hearts broken by loss today Let us lament all the lives cut short today Let us lament, O God, and then let us rise from our knees to work for change In the name of Christ, the prince of peace. Amen. The Rev. Dr. Ellen Clark-King, Former Executive Pastor and Canon for Social Justice

Update from Alejandra Ortega, Puente de la Costa Sur (PUENTE): Many folks are returning from being evacuated from the fires. Services are still very scarce (transportation, clinics). We have been and are still providing financial fire relief assistance. Also bilingual assistance in finding housing which is very difficult to find. We are also providing COVID testing and flu shots. We will be again be doing a Holiday Drive to provide families with gift cards. We will also be purchasing blankets and hoodies for farm workers. Thank you FPCPA for all you do to help.
