Wednesday Night Bible Study November 4th, 2020 with Pastor Ross Purdy

First Presbyterian Church of Burbank 02.09.2020

An afternoon prayer from Pastor Ross. Almighty God, You hold the whole world in your hands and so we know that you are sovereign even over our nation. We pray, today, for peace and for your will as the votes are counted. Whatever the outcome, remind us that it will not come as a surprise to you, but that you have a plan and a purpose for our nation and its people.... Lord, we ask that you would help us all remember that our faith is not dependent on our elected officials, but in you, the One who sustains us and the One who loves us more than we can ever imagine. May this election day and this week be one of peace. For those who find that their votes did not go the way they desired, grant them grace. For those whose votes went exactly the way they desired, grant them the kindness to honor their sisters and brothers who held opposing views. Most of all, Lord, may we, your people, show the Kingdom of Heaven by our thoughts, words, and actions in the midst of this kingdom of the world, so that the name of Jesus would be honored and glorified through your Church. Amen.

A prayer for the morning: Psalm 116:1 I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. 2 Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. "Lord, we give thanks that you always listen to us. We give thanks for your mercy in our lives and most of all we give thanks that your love is overwhelmingly sufficient for us today." ... Amen
