Are you prepared? Now is the time to Seismic Retrofit your house.

I answered my home phone this morning, and to my amazement, a telemarketer was on the line. Didn't know they existed anymore, so I decided to listen to what the guy had to say. Home improvement contractor. Interesting. Lets hear how they sell over the phone, I thought to myself. Maybe I can get a few pointers for my sales team. "We do painting, windows, siding, room additions, roofing, and foundations." That peaked my interest. "Foundations", I said. "Yes, we repair founda...tions too. Have any cracks in your walls? that's a foundation problem. We can fix that". "Hmmm, really? You fix foundations?" "Absolutely! We even have a warehouse right in Stevenson Ranch, so we can be there immediately to repair your foundation. I can make you an appointment for this afternoon.". "So, where is your warehouse? I'd like to come down and see if you are legit? Who did you say your company was again?" "S and H Builders", he said. I asked for their contractors license number, just to check legitimacy. "We don't just give that out to anyone over the phone. We don't know who we might be talking to." "But you called my", I said. "We'll give you everything when we come out today." I told them I don't let anyone come to my home until I know who they are, and see if they are licensed, bonded and insured. His next line was my favorite. "We don't give our license our anyone until they sign a contract." "Well then, we are at an impasse, because I don't do business with strangers, and if you wont let me know who you are, I don't let you come to my home." Phone went dead. Here's the best part. I googled S and H Builders. They are a home improvement company located in the San Fernando valley. Their contractors license was suspended in 2015 for non compliance. They don't have eight offices throughout the south-land, as the telemarketer stated. They certainly don't have a warehouse in Stevenson Ranch. Note to sales guy; There aren't any warehouses in Stevenson Ranch. It's a residential community. And lastly, the reason for my post. They definitely are not a foundation repair company. If and when you do have foundation problems, call a professional foundation repair company, one with a valid contractors license.
