Another happily energy independent customer, Eva Buckland.
I've been hearing a lot of misinformation about solar lately, in the news, in advertising, and here on Fail-book too. Please let me dispel some of the myth. Fi...rst off, the new tariffs that have been implemented, should not affect anyone who is buying American made products. They are a tax on the cheap generic off-shore products that have been dumped into our market. The unscrupulous solar companies who sell this crap are going to see a small increase in their costs, but that should barely be reflected in the retail cost after installation. There will be no shortages, price hikes or runs on the bank. Any one who advertises this or tries to sell you on urgency does not deserve your time or dime. Second, If you are holding out for the over-hyped "revolutionary" solar roof tiles, you are cutting yourself short. Elon Musk took $500 Million (that's a half billion!) in government money (our tax dollars) to develop a product, with no expectation of it having to be viable or come to market (remember Solyndra?). The product he is touting is a re-package version of what several other companies have try to produce (and all have gone bankrupt so far). It's called BIPV in the trade, and means "Not in my town" to any building of Fire officials. Yes, you might be able to buy the product, but no city known will issue a building permit for it, and your insurance company will drop you like a hot potato. You see, roof tile solar operates at 300-600 volts DC, and that current is running inside your roof assembly sandwiched between layers with no ventilation. When the roof does catch fire (and it will), the first thing the firemen do is jump up on the roof and chop holes with axes to let the smoke and heat out. needless to say, chopping through 600 volt current is both exciting and somewhat, lethal. These tile's main selling point is their invisibility. So where exactly do the firemen cut? Never mind, just let it burn. So if you want solar quote, with no BS or high pressure sales, give me a call. And whatever you do, don't buy from anyone who cold calls you at dinner or knocks on your door.
Another job done, just in time for summer!
Great news! In December of 2015, Congress decided to extend the Solar Tax Credit for residential installations through the end of 2019. Thanks to that, you will continue to get 30% off your solar installation costs, Solar will remain a profitable investment and financial payback time will continue to shrink. So call us today for a free consultation and see much you can save right away on your electricity bills.
