May the 4th (force) be with you... always. What would your name be in a galaxy far, far away? One of our staff would be Davel Dagra.

Wow, Nevada County! You have voted us the best toy store for 2020, which makes it 12 consecutive years. We are so honored, and we deeply appreciate you- not just during the the wildness that was 2020, but also for the past 45 years that we've been in business. (Ok, 45 years in September.) Thank you so much and we love this community! We also got voted as a runner up in Best Gift Store, and congratulations to all the other businesses!

Just in! Creatto allows you to construct illuminated creations- you can even use them as a lamp or nightlight. Each box has instructions to make 4 different creatures or objects, and feel free create your own! We have them in the store and on our website.

The importance of science cannot be overstated- you are reading these words on your device because of it! We have an excellent selection of science kits and toys to help kids have fun learning about science. We are working to get our selection up on the website, and here's a peek at some of what we've got! https://foothillmercantile.com/collections/science

Who is up for something simple, relaxing, and artistic to play with? We have Buddha boards - simply paint on the surface with water and your creation will come to life in bold design. Then, as the water slowly evaporates, your art will magically disappear leaving you with a clean slate and a clear mind, ready to create a whole new masterpiece. Check out the video for a demo, and Buddha Board is available in store and on our website! https://foothillmercantile.com/products/buddha-board

A long, wild, and challenging year has passed and now we face a new one- but we have hope that it will be a better one. The holidays are over and we're back to our regular schedule. We would like to thank you all once again for your fantastic show of support for us and for the other local merchants, pulling together as a community will help us all through these tough times! We would also like to thank the Grass Valley Downtown Association, Sierra Commons, and everyone else that has helped us pivot and adapt this past year. Cheers to a new and better year.

Hello everyone! We have two very important announcements, so listen up! First of all, we want to thank you all for your fantastic show support for us and the other local merchants over this last year and the holiday season. We appreciate it more than you know and remember that your support not only helps us, but it helps the community as a whole. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Second, we apologize for an abrupt change of plans, but we are taking a short break this week d...ue to planned and unplanned staff shortages, the holiday, to give us tired ladies a chance to rest up a bit, and to catch up on a fat backlog of office and website work. However, we will still be available a few hours a day for curbside orders and pickups. Here are the details: We will be closed for business as usual from Tuesday, December 29th - January 1st, and we will re-open as usual on Saturday, January 2nd. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00am - 12:00pm we will be available to take phone calls, allow people to place any phone orders, and/or pick up any orders they placed with us online, over the phone, or via social media messages. You can shop with us 24/7 on our website www.foothillmercantile.com We hope you are well, have a chance to practice some self-care, and have a quiet but happy New Year! Brighter days are ahead. Maybe not tomorrow, or next week, but they will come around again.

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival has gone virtual this year- we hope you've had a chance to check out some of the films, panels, auction, and the artwork! We have long supported this fun and important festival, and our resident webmaster and photographer, Ellen, has participated in the WSFF juried art show for the last two years and has three of her gorgeous photos of the Yuba River on display in our window! This year she won 2nd place in the 2D artwork division, and a big con...gratulations to her and all the other artists! Check out all the fantastic art in the virtual art gallery, and check out Ellen's window display if you're downtown! https://www.wildandscenicfilmfestival.org/2021-virtual-art/ She will donate the profits of any sales of her work to the re-building of the Independence Trail. You may contact her through her website at www.ellendavis.photography, send us a direct message, call us at (530) 273-8304, or stop by the store. Prices will vary according to size and materials used, and she will soon have cards and small prints available at the store! See more
