Do you have apple trees on your property producing in abundance? Food Rescue Del Norte, as part of the Community Food Council for Del Norte and Tribal Lands, is hosting a Community Cider Pressing on Saturday, October 24 and we're looking to glean apples next week to press. Staff and volunteers would come to your property and glean any fruit that you may not want or use. Interested in donating? All we need is your willingness to share; we'll bring the people and the tools to do the work. Send us a message or email Meredith Knowles at [email protected]. Interested in coming to our cider pressing? A link to sign up will be in the comments.

Good morning Del Norte! Today is Waste Not Weekly, which means you'll find an extra table at the Pacific Pantry from 2-6pm with rescued food items. This food comes from community businesses and organizations that generously allow us to rescue any food they aren't able to sell or serve, but is still safe, delicious, and high quality. We want to start sharing our weekly menus and updates in Spanish, as well as English, which you can find below. Happy Thursday!

We've got apples! Can you use them? Thanks to the generosity of some of our local community members, Food Rescue Del Norte has been able to glean lots of apples to share. These would be great apples to press for cider, can, make into apple butter, or even dehydrate. ... Are you interested? These apples are free to take; take as much as you can use. Visit us today at the Waste Not Weekly table at the Pacific Pantry from 2-6pm today. You can even bring your own boxes, buckets, or other containers if you can use a large amount. If you can't make it today, send us a message and we'll coordinate a time for you to come pick up what you can use.

It's Waste Not Weekly today from 2-6pm during Pacific Pantry hours. (We are located at the back entrance of the Family Resource Center.) Waste Not Weekly items are rescued through Food Rescue Del Norte from local businesses, organizations, restaurants, grocery stores, and community members. This is an offering that is OPEN to the public. Please come select items that you and your household can use.... We have an abundance of milk from our local farm, Alexandre dairy. This milk cannot be sold, but is still perfectly healthy and delicious! Remember, a good rule of thumb is that milk is good for 10 days past the printed best by date. We are so grateful to our local partners for their support of this amazing program!

We've got wild plums! Can you use them? Thanks to the generosity of some of our local community members, Food Rescue Del Norte was able to glean lots of wild pl...ums today. These are very ripe and probably best suited for someone who can use them right away -- they're great for snacking and even better for canning or dehydrating. Are you interested? These plums are free to take; take as much as you can use. Send Food Rescue Del Norte a message on Facebook or email our Coordinator Meredith at [email protected] to arrange a pick-up tomorrow morning.
