Our Big Day of Giving is just a few days away. Help us keep music alive in our community. Your donations will help us restart our live concerts in the Fall and fund our "Music for the Young and Young at Heart" community enrichment programs, which include bringing small ensembles of musicians to perform at elementary schools and at senior facilities. We will be offering a dollar-for-dollar match on all donations, so your contributions will go even farther. The total amount of ...matching funds available is $11,000. Also, if you make your donation using a Golden 1 Credit Union card, Golden 1 will partially match your donation. You can make your donation today, through midnight, Thursday, May 6 by visiting www.bigdayofgiving.org/folsomlakesymphony. A special thank you to our donors who generously seeded the matching BDOG fund: patrons Art and Linda Grix, James and Marilyn McCurdy, board members Anson and Marien Wong, and symphony musician Kathy Wright.

It is with deep sadness that I am reporting that percussionist Trent Teague has passed away. Trent will be remembered as a valued member of our symphony family. Besides being a talented musician, Trent was a bright light and his enthusiasm and positive outlook was infectious to all those around him. A quote from the singer Sting: If you play music with passion and love and honesty, then it will nourish your soul, heal your wounds and make your life worth living. Music is its own reward. Trent exemplified this quote in every way. RIP Trent, you will be missed.

Here is Kerson Leong's fine arrangement of "Oblivion" by Astor Piazzola. Kerson has played with the symphony on two occasions with memorable performances of the Khachaturian Violin Concerto and Bruch's Scottish Fantasy. Enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Pa3TFDJ7Yg

We kick off our 2021-22 fundraising season with our annual Big Day of Giving on Thursday, May 6. Last year, the Big Day of Giving generated over $12M in donations for Sacramento Region non-profits. All donations to the Folsom Lake Symphony up to $11,000 will be matched 1 for 1 for a 24-hour period! Double your impact, and help ensure the Symphony can restart our concerts and expand our community outreach efforts, including small ensemble performances in schools and senior fac...ilities. You can also schedule your donation in advance of the Big Day of Giving, starting April 22. Also, if you make your donation using a Golden 1 Credit Union card, Golden 1 will partially match your donation. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.bigdayofgiving.org/folsomlakesymphony. Special thanks to our matching fund donors Art and Linda Grix, James and Marilyn McCurdy, Anson and Marien Wong, and Kathy Wright. Their ongoing support of our Big Day of Giving matching fund over the years is greatly appreciated. Lastly, thanks to all our patrons for your continuing support and encouraging comments during the pandemic. This fueled our efforts to stay connected with you through our Folsom Lake Symphony at Home videos and virtual concert presentations on YouTube. Photo credit: Kari Bluff

We end 2020 with our fabulous Folsom Lake Symphony string quartet performing a few selections from The Nutcracker. Thanks to all our musicians for volunteering their time and talent to bring music into our homes. We wish everyone a healthy and safe New Year! https://youtu.be/NnuC_CPczFI
