We’ve gotten SO MANY new items in the last two weeks! We’re working as fast as we can to get it all out in the shop, and new arrivals have already been hitting the online shop with more coming-including a ton of great gifts for Mother’s Day! We try to live every day like it’s Earth Day, but we also appreciate a day set aside to hopefully engage more people in caring for our planet better! One of the ways we try to be more sustainable, and help others do that too, is through our take-a-pot or leave-a-pot bin at the shop! Anytime you’re in, you’re welcome to take used grower pots or if you have some you can’t use, bring them by! Grower pots are not recyclable in most places (most recycling programs in the US mainly only work with #1 & #2 plastics), and reuse is always a better route than recycling anyway, so this is just a small thing we can do to keep these pots in use and out of landfills. How it started...how it’s going. Today’s our 5th birthday! From pop-up events, to plant styling jobs, to our first teeny shop in Pasadena, on to a bigger shop in Eagle Rock, and now in our big and bright long-term home- we’re thankful for everyone who has supported us along the way in our mission to connect people with plants and each other! We love when that golden afternoon sun hits the shop. These plants are far enough from the window that we don’t have to worry about sunburn, but if you have a west facing window that gets too much intense sun in the afternoon, just use a semi-opaque white curtain or shade to transform that direct sun into indirect light (which most indoor plants do best in).

If the gift of an experience is on your holiday list this year, we think a botanical garden membership would make a great gift! Even with many typical in-person experiences shut down this year, botanical gardens and conservatories have been a safe place to connect to nature, get some exercise, and take a break from all the challenges of the times. A few of our local favorites include @laarboretum (pictured), @thehuntingtonlibrary, @theshermangardens, and @descansogardens. We loved the brick wall in the old shop, but we really love how the plants POP on the white brick in the new shop! Y’all are clearly loving the mounted plants right now. What plants would you like to see @foliabill mount next?
