Yesterday, I lost a dear friend and Hollywood lost one of its most dedicated advocates, Kevin Burns. In all my years in this business and past businesses I have yet to meet someone so passionate and selfless about the things he was involved in. Kevin Burns understood the impossible difficulty and the unrelenting time commitment of being an independent business owner in an era of massive corporate competition. Yet he became one of the most prolific TV producers of our time. Fo...r those of you wondering, Kevin produced and championed Alien Nation, Lost in Space, Ancient Aliens, A&E Biographies, Girls Next Door, Oak Island and perhaps launched and fostered some of the most successful shows on A&E. And this was just a small sample of what he left behind. He took little known hopefuls and made them producers and stars without asking of them to compromise who they were, now a rare thing in any business. He always shared what he had, most of all, time, which he had so little of. Kevin, like most of us Monster Kids, grew up on Famous Monsters and was a very close friend of Forry’s. In his busiest of days he would stop everything he was doing just to talk about those better and simpler times. We would all become 13 year olds again, when an Aurora model kit and a paint brush was what kept our imagination. He was one of FM’s greatest supporters and of all my endeavors as a publisher. I will miss him very much. @Kevin Burns (1955-2020)
