Repost from @mombrain.therapist We focus a lot here on building awareness around the thoughts, feelings and situations that trigger our anger. But I think it's also important to build awareness around the things that give us bursts of happiness and joy. At times, happiness can feel elusive for a variety of reasons. We might be dealing with difficult circumstances, ... not have things we want or need or be struggling with our relationships. And while we don't always have the capacity to "fix" or address those bigger things, sometimes giving our brain little boosts of feel good chemicals can offer a little relief when things are hard. So, what are those feel good chemicals? Dopamine Serotonin Oxytocin Endorphins And how do we start to access them? Start simply by refelcting on the little things in your life that bring you a moment of happiness or joy. Once you have some ideas, file them away in your brain as little things you can reach for or access when you need a little boost or even start adding them into your days and routines. What is one things that you know makes you feel an instant dose of happiness? See more
