Meet a Farmer: Charlie Thieriot of Rancho Llano Seco Rancho Llano Seco is a sustainable farm located in Chico. They raise pork, beef, heirloom beans, and ancient grains. Charlie’s relatives bought the land in 1861 and it has remained in the family for six generations. The ranchers at Llano Seco take pride in their ethical and sustainable farming practices. Their animals are humanely treated, and according to Charlie, the farm is the culmination of our mission to provide a... variety of products while caring for the people, the animals, and the land. Meet a Farmer: Javier Zamora of JSM Organics Located in Monterey County, JSM Organics grows certified organic berries, flowers, and a variety of vegetables. Established in 2012, JSM strives to bring sustainable food from farm to table without the interference of pesticides or synthetic products. Javier says the most rewarding part of coming to the farmers’ market is being able to watch the customers enjoying his produce. Seeing the kids and moms and dads enjoy any of my f...ruits is exciting. It reminds me of when I used to wait for my dad to get out of work in the fields and he’d bring the beautiful cantaloupes and other fruits that always tasted so good.
