It’s Pilates March Matness time. Starting with the first exercise in the Pilates mat repertoire, The 100’s. It’s a breathing exercise meant to wake up the core and build heat in the body. Usually done laying supine on your back with head, shoulders, and legs lifted. This variation is for those who are unable to curl up head and shoulders (think Ab crunch) due to abdominal injury. #MarchMatness2018 RLB. Day 5. Variations w/breathing bar. For me, it’s a great way to connect to the abs! The bar also helps maintain connection to the shoulder girdle. This made a big difference for me in terms of pelvic stability!! Try it with the bar and then do it mat-style. I love how the breathing bar turned my abs on and kept that mental/physical connection when I did It without the bar! The first frame, my knees are over the bar. Palms cupping the ends of the bar... 2nd frame, I get into my RLB position and press gently down on the bar. 3rd frame, just straight up RLB! I like to lift my heels and press my toes into the mat to get a good C curve. Then lift the feet to a hover. @pilatay this is what I was describing to you on FB.
