Fishtraveler Guide Service Eagle Lake Fishing Report 10/18/20 Fishing is improving daily. We are still experiencing Indian Summer daytime temperatures, but the cooler temperatures at night are moving more and more fish into shallower water. ... We are catching limits most trips of fish from 2 1/2 to 4 lbs. A few 5 lb Eagle Lake Trout have recently been landed. The Eagle Lake Trout are on the bite all over the lake: From Pikes Point to Ronald McDonalds we are trolling flies. From Merrill to Christie Campgrounds we are trolling grubs and crawlers. Off Shrimp Island troll Needlefish. In Miners Bay troll Needlefish and flies. Off Pelican Point and the Youth Camp troll grubs and flies. Recently the days have been cloudless with bright sunny skies. Therefore, the bite has been best early, before the bright sun hits the water. We are catching fish until 10 A.M. but at a slower pace then earlier in the morning. When we start getting cloud cover, the fish will often bite late into the day. If you need a current fishing report or want to book a guided fishing trip, give me a call. 10/11/20 Eagle Lake Fishing Report Fish Traveler Guide Service Fishing scores are definitely improving as water temperatures have declined to the low 60’s and the fish are moving into shallower water. Fish are being caught trolling flies at Pelican Point, the Youth Camp, and down the west side past the Broccoli Tree. Troll the flies just under the surface. Anglers are using the Jay Fair method and using straight monofilament on down riggers set at 2-3 feet. Side planners are... also working as the flies are presented right on top and the planner actually imparts some action to the flies as it moves through the water. I have been fishing the south end of Eagle Lake, off the jetty and the Pikes Point Area and between Merril and Christie Campgrounds. We are trolling grubs on down riggers set at 5 to 11 feet in water depths of 20 to 30 feet deep. Most days the best bite is early. Once the winter weather begins and we get overcast skies, the bite will last much longer throughout the day. Shore anglers are also catching a fair number of fish off the Gallatin Jetty. They are soaking night crawlers, throwing Kastmasters, and casting flies. Our biggest fish this week was 3lbs, 7oz. We are seeing numerous Eagle Lake Trout landed in the high 3 pound range as well as s few in the low 4’s. If you need a current fishing report or want to book a guided trip, don’t hesitate to give me a call. Tim Noxon Fish Traveler Guide Service Eagle Lake, Ca 916-201-4648

8/24/20 Fish Traveler Guide Service Eagle Lake Fishing Report The bite has gotten better and better this last week as the Eagle Lake Trout are keying on and gorging on Tui Chub Minnows that have moved out into the main body of the lake. Even though the surface temperature is hovering around 70 degrees, we are consistently catching fish on baits trolled at 7 feet deep. We are landing limits most days. The fish are big too. Today's four fish limit {for two} weighed in at 14... lbs, 5 ozs. Grubs, spoons, flies, and even worms will catch these trout. I have been running 4 rods on downriggers, two at 7 feet, the other two I move constantly between 10 and 22 feet. We are catching fish on all four rods, but twice as many fish at 7 feet deep. Look for groups of grebes and pelicans to show you where the minnows are. The trout will be under the minnow schools, AND you will see them "busting" the surface as they scoop up minnows. We are trolling fairly slow at 1.5 mph. I see many boats go right by the birds and set up out in the middle of the lake where there is no bird activity?? Pay attention to what is right in front of you. The birds are there, the trout are rising, and the minnows {if you look over the side} are thick. This "minnow" bite is just getting started and should last a few weeks. If you want to book a guided fishing trip, need a current fishing report, or help with lodging, give me a call. We are always happy to help out. Tim Noxon Fishtraveler Guide Service Eagle Lake, CA 916-201-4648 [email protected] Facebook: Fishtraveler at Eagle Lake

8/12/20: I posted my last fishing report on 8/3/20. Not much has changed. We are still landing limits of very nice fish from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 lbs. I am launching at 5 and trolling by 5:15. More fish are cruising near the surface and working the bait balls in 20-30 feet of water EARLY. We are trolling spoons and grubs at 7-10 deep before the sun hits the water. The shallow water bite is over by 7 AM. After this we are moving to water 40-45 feet deep and trolling spoons at 15-...25 feet. Spoons: Thomas Boyant, red/gold, red dot frog patterns Grubs: pumpkinseed. If you need help with lodging or want to book a guided trip, contact me at 916-201-4648. Fishing reports are free at the same number. Anytime.

Fishtraveler Guide Service Eagle Lake Fishing Report 8-3-20 Fishing is very good. We are landing limits every trip. Our last two trips each had two clients Four fish (limits for two) weighed in at an average of 11 pounds.... We are trolling spoons in red/gold and red dot frog patterns in around 40 feet of water between Wildcat Point and Shrimp Island. There is a short, sometimes intense bite from legal fishing time (an hour before sunrise) to sunrise. We have had multiple hook ups during this period. After that, the bite slows a bit but we usually have limits by 10 AM. Best trolling depths are 15 to 25 feet deep. Downriggers and leadcore both work for trollers. I have also been noticing many fish working the surface before sunrise and have caught fish trolling as shallow as 7 feet deep at this time of the morning. These fish are feeding on Tui Chub minnows which are moving away from shore and out into the main body of Eagle Lake. Surface temperature is 72 degrees but the trout will feed heavily on minnows regardless of the water temperature. Still not much going on on the east side of the lake from Gallatin Marina to Miner’s Bay. This should change as the minnows become more prevalent in this area and the Eagle Lake Trout move in to feed on them. If you see trout feeding on a school of minnows, fish around it, not through it. And do not fish your baits too deep. The trout will be under the bait ball at 10 feet or less. Fishtraveler Guide Service is available for guided fishing on Eagle Lake all season.
