Today marks the end of a 23.5 year chapter. He began with Chico Paramedic Rescue on September 30, 1996. Chico Paramedic Rescue evolved into First Responder EMS and eventually where we are today as Butte County EMS. Mickey Huber has been at the forefront of EMS in Butte County. During his tenure, Mickey has been a Field Paramedic, Tactical Paramedic, Educator, Supervisor and Chief. As we say goodbye to Mickey as he begins a new chapter in his life with AMR-Topeka, Kansas, we reflect and appreciate on his dedication and loyalty to Butte County EMS and its employees as well as the citizens of Butte County. We will learn from all that he has taught us and we wish him and his family all the best in his new venture.

First Responder EMS would like to thank all of you that are doing your part: practicing social distancing, staying home if you have a fever/cough or other symptoms. We want to reassure the public that we are doing our part as well. We have equipped our ambulances with high intensity UV light sources in the patient compartment and the HVAC system to kill viruses and we use high quality CDC recommended disinfectants. We spray each of our vehicles using a negative ion sprayer, so the disinfectant is drawn to each surface in the ambulance. We will continue to do our part, thank you for doing yours.

For those wondering what exactly the Governor just announced: It is NOT a statewide lock down. It is asking that you remain in your home as much as possible a...nd avoid non-essential activity and public gatherings. It is very similar to the directive that was recently announced in Yuba-Sutter. You can leave your home to go to essential functions like the grocery store, the bank, healthcare appointments, or to go for a walk or run. You can’t dine-in at a restaurant but they can provide take out or home delivery. As for work: check with your employer, but there are many sectors that are considered essential critical infrastructure (see attached list) and all of these sectors will remain in operation. https://www.cisa.gov//CISA-Guidance-on-Essential-Critical-
