WHAT IS VESPERS? Christians throughout the ages have observed specific hours of prayer as they go about their day. These were established to help mark off their day and to keep themselves centered around Christ - remembering him and communing with him. While most of us don’t keep multiple prayer hours throughout our day, many still observe, for instance, a morning devotion time. Vespers was the name given for the evening prayer watch. ... This year, we will be reaching back into the history of the church and borrowing this name, Vespers, and using it to signify a time of meditative prayer, repentance and devotion, on the evening of the last Friday of each month. Join us tomorrow for our first Vespers!
