FEBRUARY 2015 EVENT CALENDAR
"what does the snail say when he rides o the back of a turtle?" "Wheeeeeee!" Will Durst
Deacon of the Month JAN McCAFFERTY Favorite flower: " I love all types of flowers. I like change. I choose flowers by their color. I look to see if the color jumps out at me and then that is the flower I get."... Favorite colors: "blue, green, and purple" What do you love? "Sweets....sweets that I am not supposed to eat." Jan McCafferty was born and raised in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. She grew up on a farm with her doting mother and her rambunctious brothers and sisters. Her mom once commented on how Janet could lead the cows back from the fields to the barn for the evening. The rest of her kids would "shoo" the cows from the rear like it was supposed to be done. In reality, Jan was so afraid of the cows. The bulls took notice and would follow her back to the barn with the rest of the cows in tow. She was so glad she didn't have to do that too often. Growing up on a farm that was so rocky, it was later sold to become a stone quarry, was where she developed her "pioneer spirit" and "can do attitude". She has always looked forward and continues to learn and grow everyday. She is the Chairperson of the Deacons Committee and is also the Deacon of the month for February. As Deacon of the month she is in charge of making sure we have refreshments in the Narthex after service on Sundays, except when there is a Fellowship Luncheon. Set up and break down of the refreshments are just a few of the responsibilities. She overseas the "Prayer Circles", sends out cards and notes, and also lights the candles for "those in need" during the worship service. Jan is always looking for a few good members to join the Deacons Committee. You do not have to be a member. "Friends of the Church" are welcome to share their time and talents. Deacons are guardians of the congregation who provide support and a warm smile to those in need. If you have a desire to help others, come and be a part of our church community.
Pet of the Month Pugsley: Lord of the Keep Puglsey Reid, 10 week old pug puppy. Mascot of the Little Angel's Daycare. He is a bundle of warm joy wrapped in fur. He loves to play with the kids in enthusiastic bursts of energy. He then needs a short nap. His gas tank is a bit small but his excitement is contagious. The Wee folk just love him. Pugsley's doggy naps are so much needed at his age. He reminds the kids that they too need a nap after playtime
