Seeking New Board Members And Advisors The Fire Safe Council For Monterey County is seeking new members and advisors for our board of directors. Wildfires have become an increasingly unnerving fact of life in California, disproportionately taking the lives of seniors and those with disabilities. The Fire Safe Council For Monterey County and Wanda Vollmer of Peace of Mind Preparedness have developed a free workshop, Wildfire and You, to help inform everyone in Monterey County, including the County's seniors and those with disabilities and their relatives, friends, and caregivers, how they can prepare for wildfires before they start, to help protect lives and homes. The free 30-minute workshop can be taken at any time at www.firesafemonterey.org/workshops.html.

Health and safety are always top priority. To continue to do our part to #StopTheSpread our defensible space inspectors will be limiting home visits. The council is a non-profit corporation committed to protecting lives and property from harm by wildfires, and to educating the public on wildfire dangers and how to reduce them. The council supports projects that help make homes, neighborhoods, and communities fire safe by management of natural and man-made resources. We are looking for people who want to join us in volunteering to help meet these life-protecting goals. During the COVID-19 pandemic, FSCMC meetings will be held on line via teleconference.
