It's always fun to cure hip dysplasia with correct positioning! Today Dr. Jeffrey S Cohen Veterinarian saw yet another second opinion for hip dysplasia. (Read h...ere www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=1916 ) Despite no historical, physical or clinical findings compatible with hip dysplasia, this 10 month old Golden Retriever was diagnosed elsewhere with this congenital disease and was told the dog needed surgery based on the very poorly positioned radiograph(xray) on the left. The importance of correct radiographic positioning cannot be understated. Approximately 30% of all the hip radiographs we take are second opinions where dogs are diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Of those, 75% do not really have hip dysplasia but instead had poorly positioned radiographs. (Like all data: garbage in/garbage out). Note how "miraculously" the pup has great/normal hips on the image on the right. See more
