General Order 21-01 COVID-19 Public Emergency Closure Of All Courthouses Through January 29, 2021 On January 7, 2021, Chief Judge Maureen A. Tighe issued General Order 21-01 In Re: COVID-19 Public Emergency Closure of All Courthouses Through January 29, 2021 in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to more closely align with District Court operations in light of the United States District Court Notice from the Clerk In Re: Extension of Continuity of Operations Plan, issued on January 6, 2021, which closes all courthouses of the Central District of California and suspends all in-person Court operations through and including January 29, 2021.

How Does Bankruptcy Stop a Lawsuit? When a debtor (the person owing debt) files a case, an order called the automatic stay prevents creditors from continuing any collection activity, including attempting to win a money judgment in a lawsuit.
Bankruptcy Questions Can I keep my car? The motor vehicle exemption helps you keep your car, truck, motorcycle, or van in Chapter 7 bankruptcy by protecting equity in a vehicle. If you're behind on your car loan, you can't keep your car unless you work out a plan to bring your payments current before you file for bankruptcy (more below).
Governor Newsome has mandated a close of non essential businesses and any businesses that service clients in an enclosure. As we adjust our office for closure and the staff to resume working from home again we will have a four day delay in services. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have. Rest assured we will file extensions for any outstanding returns in our possession.

STIMULUS CHECK INFORMATION IN NEXT TWO WEEKS.PLEASE UPDATE YOUR ADDRESS RECORDS OR YOUR CHECK WILL BE LOST. Each eligible adult will receive up to $1,200 from the government. For every child in a given household, the amount of the total check would go up by $500.... However, there are income limits on receiving the stimulus check. If your adjusted gross income is less than $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers, then you'll get the full amount. For every $100 you earn above those limits, though, the payment drops by $5. That means that for those with no children and income levels above $99,000 for singles and $198,000 for joint filers, no stimulus check would come. Those with incomes between those levels would receive a reduced stimulus check payment. Some of the logistical details aren't yet entirely pinned down, but one aspect that could cause considerable confusion is in determining income for purposes of the legislation. In an effort to get the checks out as quickly as possible, the federal government apparently intends to use 2018 reported income as filed on federal tax returns in determining eligibility. However, some believe that the final legislation could treat the payments as an advance credit that will be verified on 2020 tax returns. That raises the question of whether taxpayers will have to establish their eligibility again based on 2020 income levels -- and potentially have to pay back their stimulus checks if their income rose between 2018 and 2020. Make Financial Goals Goals, in general, are great to have they give you something to work towards and they're motivating. When you're coming up with financial goals, follow these key points:... Be specific Instead of saying you want to save money, come up with an exact amount you want to save, like $1,000. Think short & long term You want short-term goals to keep you motivated and long-term goals so you know where you're headed. Your short-term goals should be small wins that get you closer to accomplishing your long-term goals. Review and update Every month you should be looking at your goals, measuring your progress and coming up with new goals. Call us today 951-769-7606
Create an Emergency Fund: If you do not have an emergency fund, now is the time to start building it. The emergency fund should be invested in only cash or short duration bond funds that receive a small amount of interest. The goal of an emergency fund is to have available funds for when you are dealing with unemployment or you have an unforeseen cost arise. Typically, I suggest emergency funds should total at least 6-12 months of after-tax spending in case of unemployment or disability. It can take three years to save this amount of money but starting now will help you in the long run.
