Athlete of the Month @jakewilson99 it’s never easy choosing who has stuck out the most every month but Jake has been consistent as the sun. Not only attendance, but effort and attitude is always on point. Thank you Jake for being such a great leader everyday and never allowing noise to change who you are. Your a great friend and a very wise dude. Excited to see you perform next season. You’ve came along way in the short time I’ve known you and I think life holds a bright path for you through sports and definitely beyond. Congratulations on this acknowledgment. Jake gets a top class haircut from @hidefinitionbarbers in Walnut Creek. Be sure to check them out if you or anybody is looking for a professional barbershop that can do any haircut or hairstyle! Thank guys for being a staple in the community!

Thanks to the pumpkin carvers this morning. That was awesome!

The Foundation 11.11.2020

Great day at Half Moon Bay running. Incredible work by everybody followed by an ocean swim.

The Foundation 03.11.2020

Next Saturday, 10-12. Carving pumpkins takes great focus, attention to detail and is quite therapeutic. In these times, their isn’t too many activities I can think of better than carving a pumpkin. BYOP or bring $10 and one will be provided.

Next Saturday, it’s going down.

First Annual Foundation Olympic Games!!! We have been training so hard and these athletes need somewhere to showcase their strength. I thought why not throw a strength/speed competition.

House of Movement can be interpreted numerous ways. This is obviously a place where people improve their physical movement but it’s also a place where we move thoughts. We move ideas, and stories about ourselves. We move energy with honesty about ourselves and try to find solutions to life’s hardest questions. We talk about stuff that’s bugging us, and make micro adjustments to our perceptions; in turn changing our frequency and changing our lives forever.

Being present was all that ever mattered. @jakewilson99 : @photosbyjeff._

Challenging past ideas isn’t fun, but it’s what must be done if we are to progress humanity. A posterior chain is a theory that says their is a group of muscles that run down the back side of your body that all light up together to create some sort of line of power. We hear it all the time in douchebag gyms and I’ve heard it my whole life and have even coached it myself. Well here it goes, it’s all bullshit. There is no where in your brain that identifies a memory of tissue ...that all fire together that we just naturally have. Memorization of tissue is created by behavior. Yes, your fascia is connecting all your tissue to create lines of memory patterns of movement, but there are no original set lines of memory patterns, that is only created by what we do and what our environment is demanding. For example, a tennis players movement memory patterns are different than a basketball player, simply because those movements day in and day out create tissue habits, whether good or bad, healthy or unhealthy, your tissue will get good at whatever direction you continually send it. A squat, a clean, a jerk, are all movements created by humans to accomplish a specific task. The posterior chain theory goes against science because if there was such a thing, a squat pattern would feel incredibly natural to a high school freshman athlete. If you have ever been in a weight room during freshman hours, you know that shit ain’t true. We create movement patterns. Kinstretching highlights from Wednesday. These are the days we work exclusively on expanding and controlling our range of motion. Building your capacity to move your body is what the Foundation is all about. This is the base of anything else you want to do better.

Training!! Great week everybody

Quotes from @drandreospina from the podcast again. What he’s really trying to say is, if we can’t agree on the scientific processes of learning about ourselves as a means of understanding and executing sound training, then we just shouldn’t be talking because we’re not going to get anywhere. As a trainer, I study training a lot. I watch stuff, I read stuff, I listen to stuff, I venture out and meet people that do the same. It’s very hard to have a dialogue with another person about my profession if that person isn’t also putting in that same amount of effort. I’m all about learning from each other but if you don’t put time into learning the ins and outs of the human body, then please refrain from having such passionate opinions about it. Your most likely generalizing and doing guess work; which does nobody justice. Happy Sunday.

I never speed trained and I was always the fastest on my team. But I did train. Please stop speed training that’s not how it works. You don’t train for speed. You train the prerequisites of speed, then you get speed. Speed requires lots of strength, lots of sprinting, lots of ankle, spine, hip and shoulder mobility, tons of power, and more strength. Happy Friday.

Athlete of the Month is @spiritualath1ete !!! This guy is a true warrior who I am so happy I met that one fine day at Hidden Lakes Park. Him and his crew started training here about 2 months ago and it’s been major love ever since. The thing that impresses me the most about Yely is his dedication to learn and improve. True growth mindset. He cares about UNDERSTANDING why we do what we do. He asks the deeper questions which is uncommon for young athletes. I think he asks th...ose questions because he has unwavering courage and isn’t afraid to learn stuff that may threaten what he already knows and potentially could change the way he things. He welcomes that in and sees it as an opportunity to grow. I can’t say enough about him as a friend as well. I think people are lucky to know him and our community is better with guys like Yely around. As always, Spiritual Athlete gets a free haircut from @hidefinitionbarbers. Than you to @maxthe.barber for running such a professional culture over at the shop. Super excited to continue training with @spiritualath1ete and the rest of the crew. We shall see what the future holds. @ The Foundation See more

For starters, a flexible spine is crucial for sprinting. Our spine should actually rotate when we run. Secondly, your spinal cord is where all movement signals run through. A healthy moving spine allows for cleaner signaling between your central nervous system and rest of your body. Also. Any particular segment of your spine that has low quality movement can’t create or absorb forces well. That means you may be leaving power on the table, and since certain parts of your spine can’t absorb force, other parts of type spine will take on that load, which leads to more pain and dysfunction.
