Fleur de Lis Fitness 01.01.2021

Chase + I are about to embark upon our wildest adventure yet-Baby BOY O’Mahoney will be here July 2021! I didn’t know if I’d get to share this happy news. Our journey to get here was unexpectedly long, and challenging, due to infertility. But thanks to a lot of love, a lot of science from UCSF Center for Reproductive Health, and endless support from our fantastic crew, this little babe is a thing! Infertility was on my radar, but I didn’t anticipate experiencing it:... The diagnosis of Functional Hypothalamic Amenorrhea (aka FHA = loss of a menstrual cycle), nor the failed rounds of Clomid, injectable meds + TIC, IUI, our clinic shutting down due to a global pandemic and being concerned about how many months we would have to wait to start again. The huge undertaking that is IVF. The countless phone calls, emails, coordination, shipments of meds, shots, appointments, ultrasounds, blood tests, failed pregnancy tests, over, and over, and over again. Watching the clock to ensure I was on schedule and having to give myself shots in bathrooms on planes, in restaurants, the car, you name it. The rollercoaster of finally receiving the joyful result of a positive pregnancy test thanks to a successful IVF round, but then the rare and absolutely miserable diagnosis of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome that gave me a massively swollen abdomen, difficulty breathing, eating, drinking, and moving, with no relief for the better part of a month. It’s not lost on us that pregnancy announcement posts can be triggering to people who yearn for a child but are unable to have one. I want to be sensitive to you and let you know that I’m here to talk with you or someone who may know who’s dealing with anything remotely related to our journey. Seriously, reach out to me. Lucky embryo #10, we can’t wait to show you the world and the incredible people who make it so special. In the meantime, I’m honored and thrilled knowing you’re with me at every moment, experiencing life with me for the next 6 months. Cheers to you, little dude, you’re already SO loved! Treat your body like it belongs to someone you love Whoa, kinda mind blowing, right??? Changes everything and puts it in perspective. Stop the bad mouthing about it to others. ... Stop the negative internal dialogue. Stop filling it with junk. Stop beating yourself up when you want to mindfully indulge. Stop finding excuses to not move it. Stop putting it on the bottom of your priority list. Stop hating it. Stop picking it apart and wishing you could spot treat. Stop treating it as if it’s a garbage can worthy of scraps, low quality fuel, and deprivation. Stop neglecting its signals. Start to recognize that it’s your ONE and ONLY permanent home. The vessel you get to nurture so that you can live a long, full, adventurous life. The gift you were given at the beginning of your journey. My greatest goals as a trainer + nutritionist are to guide my clients into this mindset. Don’t you want to step into the light?

A helping hand, a kind gesture, a caring comment, grace, understanding, philanthropy, good deeds, a warm smile (people can still sense your smile behind your mask ), and kindness go so far. ... Keep a special place in your heart and actions for those who may not be as fortunate as you. You never know how a simple extension of compassion towards others can have a ripple effect on their lives and so many more. One week from today I turn the big 3-5! I used to downplay birthdays but last year I decided to own it. Why not celebrate another trip around the sun? Since we can't host our annual Fleet Week party on our porch in San Francisco watching the air show with our loved ones, I'm inviting each and every one of you to join me for one of my workout classes next week! If you've been on the fence about coming to one of my classes, haven't made time for it, let's make it happen!... This is all I want for my birthday this year Back when all this COVID-19 stuff started, I remember thinking to myself, "oh, things will be back to normal by my 10/3 birthday and life will be back to normal." Well Life has been interesting this year. Obviously we're all trying our best to survive and thrive through a global pandemic. Chase and I have moved out of our beloved SF apartment and are currently nomadic gypsies, we've lost some loved ones, I'm still trying to recover from functional hypothalamic amenorrhea, I'm giving so much to my career and trying to get my private 4 month coaching and membership to a place I deem successful (read: I'm REALLY hard on myself and set high standards), and Chaser and I are making some really big life decisions about our future. Lots of tough conversations. We're doing our best but yours truly has had a few good cries recently. I know we are beyond fortunate and we feel grateful. Still, life can be....a lot. But - let's make this next week a party by packing my classes!!! My drinking plan for today: 2 glasses of wine total with 4 waters spaced between, plus many snacks We are headed to a winery today to celebrate my sister’s mini wedding tomorrow (Napa got postponed until next LDW) and I tell you what-old Claire was pretty lawless (lived in New Orleans for many days) when it came to drinking...I’ll talk about it another time....but I’m much more mindful about consumption now, almost a never drinker. ... These days, I always eat a full meal before, bring snacks, drink two glasses of water for every glass of alcohol, and take breaks to see how I feel. I’m an old lady so I typically stop after two. Trust me, the hangovers aren’t worth it When I do rarely drink, my goal is to mindfully imbibe. I’ve had too many headaches in the past to guide my more mature decisions. Four months from today it'll be December 17th. Isn't that crazy? You know what else is crazy?
