You know, I was sitting here thinking of all my beautiful clients and reflecting on how connected we all are. I started as your esthetician. The one you confided in cause I was a safe place for you. No judgement, I didnt really know your people so you could be completely candid. You got your first facial ever, cause you liked the logo or you liked the name. Then we became friends. I cried with you, celebrated with you, learned who You loved what you disliked, how the... new job was going, where the vacation was going to be, how your grown kids were and even celebrated their joys as well! ... we began to do life together. It was becoming less about the facials and more about us. Now we are family. Im heartbroken at the way 2020 has treated each of you. We have had very little celebrations with many defeats and still, together we have tried to push each other to stay positive, keep going, dont give up!! We vented to each other, cried together and even a few of us have broken the rules together Together, we are all mourning the tremendous loss of the Creek Fire. We had no idea how bad 2020 REALLY could get. When this fire broke loose and the Fb feed began to deliver the terrible news faster than I could comprehend, I cried and I was scared and I felt helpless. It was the similar to the immeasurable heartbreak I felt on 9/11. But then, something beautiful happened. Again, Similar to 9/12/2001. We were united once again! TOGETHER, On day 13 of the fire we are now celebrating our strength in numbers, as a community, as a family and as a small town. I am so PROUD of everyone! Im in complete awe of the love and compassionate, monetary contributions and sweat equity folks are putting forth to help one another. People are ready to work, re-build, hug, fly a flag, and ask their neighbor how are you doing The creek fire may be on the national news but the pain and love is most defiantly felt most at our local level. When I was evacuated, I was beyond the reach of local news outlets, beyond the smell of smoke, beyond the ash that was traveling by air. As I re-entered these mountains yesterday the smell of smoke became stronger, the dark skies turned darker and I saw sign after sign cheering for my home town hero’s! What a sight, what a feeling. I am so proud to be from these hills. These hills that people ask twice the name cause they’ve never heard of em’. These hills where most last names are famous in a multitude of ways and everyone is related ...somehow . These hills where not only blood but water is thicker than thieves. I just had to share my feelings. We will rise above the ashes, we will rebuild and my greatest prayer, is that we dont forget this feeling. That we stay connected, helping, praying, working together. Lets stay #MountainStrong forever. Lets set the example for our kids, our neighboring cities and each other.
