Shero Spotlight: My name is Danae and I am a SGT in the Military Police Corp for the United States Army Reserves; currently serving my second tour to the Middl...e East. . I have been in over 6 years and just re-enlisted for another 6. My service has taken me to many different states and a number of different countries which has offered so many great experiences! . I was raised very patriotic and although I describe my love for the Army as a love-hate relationship, I truly feel that it is an honor to serve! . I am a Shero because I have faced many challenges in and outside the Military and have overcome those challenges! From having to work harder to prove myself because of being a Female Soldier, dealing with sexual harassment, assault, having dealt with an abusive and toxic relationship in the Military and struggling with anxiety and depression as a result of many of these challenges, despite often feeling broken and hopeless, I pushed through and am not just surviving today, but living. . I still serve, I've been promoted, re-enlisted and still have many aspirations for my Military career! Overcoming these challenges and still being in the fight is what makes me a Shero today! . I started a Veteran Organization in 2018 called Vigilant Valkyrie , whose mission is to connect and support Female Warriors of all branches through Veteran Sisterhood. . I will end with this: every day brings new challenges in our personal lives, Military lives and simple day to day lives. Some days, feel as if we may not have the strength to wake up in the morning. Yet, each day we do, each day we push on, when things get tough, take it one day at a time and remember you are not alone. There is a vast community of Veterans, brothers and sisters, that will walk with you through the dark. See more
