My friend Andrew Branca, noted Attorney and author of the best selling "Law of Self Defense" book, still has 2 seats left for his June 17 (Sat.) class at FT3 in Stanton, CA. You train for defensive engagements so you'll be hard to kill, now get the knowledge so that you'll always be justified in that use of force. If you're an attorney, CLEs are available as well.... Non-deadly threats occur 5 times more often than deadly ones.* What do you carry or rely upon for those incidents? OC? ECD? Empty-hand techniques? *Per FBI UCR.

Quick Flag Etiquette 101: > ON MEMORIAL DAY, the flag is flown at half staff until noon, then at full staff until sunset. > When the flag is hung (not upon a pole or staff), the "Union" (field of stars) is positioned at the top left, from the viewer/audience perspective. UNLESS...... > If a flag image is mounted upon a vehicle, aircraft, vessel, person's uniform, etc., the Union will be positioned so as to indicate forward movement of said item. > Flying a tattered flag shows more disrespect than not flying one at all. Retire your flag and purchase a new one. > Take your flag down in the evening, or properly illuminate it at night. > When flying multiple flags on poles of equal height, position the American flag in the position of honor, to the far left (from the viewer's perspective) > If flying multiple flags on the same pole, no flag shall be placed above the American flag (limited exception for Naval religious ceremony at sea) http://www.military.com//flag-ettiquette-dos-and-donts.html

CA DOJ Regulations: Selected Passages of Interest [I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY] Disassembly of the firearm defined as (For AR family of weapons) removing rear take down, allowing receivers to pivot using the front pivot pin as the fulcrum.... >> This was an area of contention, as previous language did not clarify if one or two pins must be removed. Section 5471 (hh)(3), With regards to an AR15 style firearm, if a complete upper receiver and a complete lower receiver are completely detached from one another, but still in the possession or under the custody or control of the same person, the firearm is not a semiautomatic firearm. >> No constructive possession if the two separated halves are otherwise defined as something prohibited as a semiautomatic assault weapon. Section 5474.2, Registration of 80% lowers-turned-complete AR (Firearm Manufactured By Unlicensed Subject (FMBUS)) A person seeking assault weapon registration for this type of firearm shall seek a Department issued serial numberprior to initiating the assault weapon registration process. >> Prior language suggested that the owner/producer would be able to keep the serial number previously placed upon the receiver. Now, the FMBUS must have the DOJ-issued serial number, regardless of prior self-generated serial number placement. Section 5477, Post-Registration Modification of Registered Assault Weapons, Prohibition. The release mechanism for an ammunition feeding device on an assault weapon registered pursuant to Penal Code 30900shall not be changed after the assault weapon is registered. A weapon’s eligibility for registration pursuant to Penal Code 30900depends, in part, on its release mechanism. Any alteration to the release mechanism converts the assault weapon into a different weapon from the one that was registered. >> You cannot remove your bullet button or like-device and install a normal AR mag release, under the belief that once a person registers his/her assault weapon, one may revert to features found in old school AWs. The Regulations include language that goes beyond the law which passed last year, e.g. inclusion of shotguns, required registration information. For a full analysis and legal breakdown of the DOJ regulations, check out the linked Michel & Associates webcast. http://crpa.org/webinars/
