As a manager, my goal is simpleto support my team and show them I care. Facebook creates space for us to fail and learn from our mistakes. This means people can be themselves, and I’ve found we all perform best when we’re authentic. I’m proud to be at a company where I can empower people to succeed while being who they truly are. I originally joined the Facebook company for the opportunity to bring affordable internet access to rural areas. I transferred to the Security tea...m to ensure people around the world can stay connected to one another without having to worry about vulnerabilities or other security issues. Many people outside of the tech industry know we build products. One initiative my team works on is our Bug Bounty program, which encourages researchers outside of Facebook to report vulnerabilities they find back to us. I've been working in tech for over 20 years, and this is the first place where I have experienced a broad and connected Black community. Earlier in my career, identity never came up in conversations at work. At Facebook, I’m encouraged to openly discuss racial issues and be a leader for change. We’re constantly thinking about how to incorporate racial justice and equity in our planning. And then, how we can build these ideas into our products. A big part of what we’re doing... is creating tools that give businesses the ability to level the playing field. A great example of this is a program called "Elevate" where we invite businesses to get mentoring and training by people working at Facebook. Initiatives like these demonstrate the power and scale of the Facebook community. We can accomplish so much when we all work together. Gene A., VP, Commerce Business & Operations See more

One of the things I’m passionate about is getting more women into tech and security roles. I’m proud of the work we’ve been doing in the Women in Enterprise Infrastructure and Security (EIS) group. From events like the EIS Tech Talk to partnering with employee groups within the company, we work hard to make sure more women are hired in security and tech roles. This work is part of my core being, and I’m thankful to work at a company that facilitates and encourages pursuing y...our passions. The culture at the Facebook company is unlike any company I’ve ever worked for. It’s a bottom-up system, meaning our team goals aren’t passed down from leadership. Instead, everyone has the ability to identify or suggest goals and projects they are passionate about and feel are most important to work on. I lead a small team that is building an application security program to improve the security of Enterprise Engineering applications and services. We do this by performing security reviews and delivering security consultation services, including threat modeling. Every day is a new challenge and a new opportunity to solve difficult problems, which is why I love it. Facebook serves billions of users, and our job is to ensure we’re solving the right issues by addressing current and future threat trends. To do this at scale, we’re growing our team. If you’re inquisitive, passionate and like to face new challenges, we’d love to meet you. Jane O., Information Security Analyst

"Voting is important for everyone. It's a chance for you to make your voice heard; it's a chance for you to be counted." With only days to go until this year's historic US general election, now is the time to use your voice by casting your vote. Our team spent the past month traveling across the country to install 50 murals in 10 cities for the #VotingisVoice mural initiative, and during that time we witnessed the incredible power of art and artists to amplify diverse perspec...tives and inspire people to express themselves. Huge thanks to the participating artists, past FB AIRs Troy Lamarr Chew II, Edie Fake, Ramzy Masri, Tiff Massey, and Jamilla Okubo. We are so grateful to all our community partners across the US this project would not have happened without you! When we talk about supporting Black businesses and communities, we have to approach building products and programs in ways that will help address structural inequities. That begins by thinking first about the unique experiences and challenges of Black business owners, entrepreneurs and creators. I'm fortunate that I get to spend my days talking to entrepreneurs who are my inspiration. I keep telling my team, if we aren’t here for them, who will be? We have the ability to help minority-owned businesses connect to the massive reach that Facebook has, and I’m excited and motivated to be part of that. Conversations are changing now. I feel encouraged that we are not only being heard, but we are seeing action. Jason T., Director, Global Supplier Diversity

"Making sure that voters have all the information they need in one place and more importantly, making sure that information is authoritative and accurate, is so important to protect the integrity of this election and future ones to come. Whether it’s our Voting Information Center or the recruitment drive for poll workers, we have a responsibility to actively support well-informed voter engagement, registration, and turnout among all communities. As an immigrant, I remember th...e very day I became a citizen it’s almost like a second birthday for me. And with that came the privilege and responsibility of voting. It’s not something I take for granted. So if I can inspire the community through sharing what Facebook is doing to empower voters, then it’s a win-win. My work is fulfilling and I can make a difference." "I’m grateful to be part of a team that promotes the safety and wellbeing of our employees. Facebook was one of the first companies to adopt remote work after the onset of the pandemic. Now that we’re working from home, our priorities have shifted to helping employees adapt to remote work. Projects like creating remote badges enable our new hires to get the services they need without ever stepping onto a Facebook campus. We’re also working on tools and systems that will help ...ensure we can safely return to the office. I see my work as an integral part of the way we take care of our team members. The products we build are an important addition to the generous wellness benefits and paid parental leave that make Facebook such a great place to work. In my role, I’m empowered to be creative, share ideas, and collaborate with senior leaders. There is no hierarchy. Enterprise Engineering has expanded and evolved considerably since I joined Facebook five years ago, and I love being able to help shape both our work and our culture. I’m also extremely grateful that Facebook gives us the flexibility and resources to be successful while working from home. From granting additional time off and home office equipment to increased health benefits, it’s wonderful to know that Facebook truly cares about our well-being. Poornima R., Engineering Manager

Atish Banerjea, Chief Information Officer at the Facebook company, leads the global Enterprise Engineering (EE) organization. Enterprise Engineers at Facebook view technology from a creative perspective, and build platforms, products and services to bring the internal Facebook community together. We are solution-seekers and bold builders who see problems as opportunities, Atish says. Atish recently spoke with Forbes.com to share more about his leadership approach and the i...mpactful work the EE team is focused on at Facebook. Here’s what he shared. Building for Facebook first The EE team builds people-centric enterprise solutions that transform and accelerate Facebook's business. We operate important IT systems efficiently and securely, while providing reliable products, services and meaningful insights to our team members, Atish says. Because of this, Atish challenges himself to think differently than other CIOs. He draws on his past experience as a chief technology officer (CTO), where he worked closely with engineers, product managers, and designers. Atish shares that Safety Check, which provides an easy way to let your friends and family know you’re safe during a crisis, was built for Facebook team members before it became available to the Facebook community. The first time we used it was when there was an earthquake in Mexico in 2017, he says. Atish explains the tool shortened the amount of time it took to make sure team members were safe from days to less than 12 hours. The benefit of building internally first? Products become better as a result, Atish explains, adding that they’re able to incorporate feedback before the product scales to the Facebook community. A commitment to career growth At Facebook, we believe that all of our team members should be passionate about the work they’re doing. From designers to software engineers, Atish reminds us that there are opportunities for everyone, and career paths at Facebook come in all shapes and sizes. He encourages his team to explore new avenues and work on the problems they want to solve. In the design, product management, and software engineering space, we have people going back and forth fairly regularly, he shares. Atish adds that this flexibility to carve out your own career path gives people the opportunity to grow at Facebook, and also makes the EE org stronger. Interested in learning more about Atish? A key part of driving fairness in algorithms in ensuring companies are focused on increasing the diversity of the people working on and developing algorithms. Facebook wants to help increase the number of graduates from underrepresented groups who could work in AI, so we are co-teaching and funding a deep learning course at Georgia Tech as part of a pilot program to make AI education more accessible and build a stronger pipeline of diverse candidates in the field. http://fb.careers/AIfordiversecandidates

We want to help register more voters than we ever have before and give people the tools and the information they need to make their voices heard. When we surveyed adults in the US, more than half said they believe people will need more information on how to vote in this election than in previous elections. This is why we built the Voting Information Center, which is an important part of our efforts to protect our elections and promote democracy.
