When we supply vehicles for movies or TV shows we have ZERO input on what the end result will be. In fact I remember the very first production we did when we supplied 3 x 404 Unimogs for an action adventure. Took the entire shop to the movies to see the debut and realized that all of our Unimog footage ended up on the cutting room floor with the exception of 6 seconds! Fast forward 10 years later and we delivered some Pinzgauers for the Thor movie...they were supposed to have minimal footage, and we were pleased to see them throughout the movie. Hi Guys, Looking for a few more beta testers for our new clutch system for the 404. We are shifting the 404 clutch to a much more reliable Diaphragm style G-wagon pressure plate system. I need 4 additional beta testers before we are comfortable putting these on the market. What we need: Testers willing to install and USE the clutch in their 404. It will require communication with us, and feedback of your experience. A proto-type has been operating for years, but we need a lar...ger sample size. Looking for people that USE their truck, prefer those that use them hard! What do you get: An upgraded clutch system free of charge. Drop us a line if you have some interest.

SHIPPING UPDATE - Shipments are shipping from EI with minimal delays on in stock parts. Inbound airfreight shipments are still coming in, although we are seeing some delays. With the current pandemic there have been changes to shipping policies and expectations at the carriers. Across the board, GSR (Guaranteed Service Refunds) have gone out the window. The carriers in general ARE still meeting their service delivery times, but there are no more refunds if they miss the de...livery window. We normally run at a 3-4% "exception" rate for deliveries. Currently, that is closer to 10-11%. TRACK YOUR SHIPMENTS - UPS is quite often NOT leaving door tags. If they miss you, the shipment will likely be dropped at an "access point" for pickup. If it is not picked up from the access point within 7-10 days, it gets returned. IF YOU ARE A BUSINESS - Make sure you have notified UPS that you are open and ACCEPTING deliveries. UPS is making the assumption that a lot of businesses are closed and are NOT attempting some deliveries. WHERE CAN I TRACK MY SHIPMENT? 1. When an order ships from EI, an email with the tracking number is sent.- 2. The day the order is scheduled to deliver, an email with the tracking number is sent. 3. At anytime, you can login to your EI account and see the status and tracking on any of your orders. Amazon delivery delays have nothing to do with EI shipments. Because your Amazon is getting delayed 2-4 weeks, your parts order is most likely shipping in the normal time frames. (Never thought I would be able to say that again!!)

Weekly update - 2 weeks down, 4+ to go. Everyone at EI is healthy and operational. Kathy and I are working from home, Scott B and Brian are holding down the warehouse and office, and Steve is holding down his home office in Georgia! Kenlynn and Mac have learned that with their "distance learning" for school, there is a little bit of extra time where they can help out with some organization in the warehouse. Some of you who have dropped by had seen a couple of containers of Vidmar and Lista cabinets in the yard. Well the Corona fairy has given is a little extra time to get things into tip top shape and get those cabinets installed......I'll take this as the silver lining! A big thanks to our customers. We appreciate you and are here if we are needed. Stay safe out there.

We at EI are taking all of the necessary safety protocols seriously for our employees. Work has slowed slightly, and the neighbors are looking at us a little odd.....but oh well.

Expedition Imports has been monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation, making operational updates with the safety of our employees and customers in mind. EI is still open for business, and orders are shipping daily. We are seeing some impacts on inbound shipment lead times, and outbound international shipments, but in general the delays are quite minimal. Please note the warehouse is currently ONLY open for walk-in business with an ADVANCE APPOINTMENT. We will continue to evaluate the situation and will provide communication for any further operational changes that may affect business. We have been told we might see a Unimog show up on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage this month! No idea what to expect, but as always Jay and his production crew are top notch and even let my son spend the day on set filming at Hungry Valley SVRA......and they couldn't have picked a nicer Unimog to play with!

Bay Area G-Wagon Meet and Greet this Saturday 2/15 at Expedition Imports. Steve Dempsey is here this week for some meetings, so it's a good time to drop by and talk a little shop. We will pull out some of the oddball used parts bins, and obsolete items to go thru. Come and go as you wish. Starting at 10 am. Around 1:30 we will head over to Mare Island Brewing Company for some lunch and drinks on EI. See you Saturday.
