A former Pornhub manager recently came forward as a whistleblower and sent this letter to Canada's Ethics Committee, exposing the trafficking of webcam girls. He says "I fear for my safety... but please investigate all the camgirl sites that MindGeek runs. I am certain that many of these so-called models are being held captive in trafficking situations all over the world." This manager goes on to reveal that women trying to escape North Korea are being trafficked in China, an...d that "the scope of the problem is much larger than anyone on the Ethics Committee or reporting in mainstream media currently realizes." Youngbee Dale is a Korean American woman who's an expert on the trafficking of Korean women. After the recent tragic shootings at massage parlors in Atlanta, in which six Korean women were killed, we wanted to get her perspective on the existence of trafficking at these kinds of businesses. As we continue to mourn the tragedy of the recent Atlanta massage parlor shootings, it's important to understand who these victims were. We recently connected with Angel Lee, a young Korean American woman, and felt we needed to share a story she posted. This story makes it clear that trafficking was happening at one or more of these Atlanta spas. It's doubly tragic that many of these victims probably never had a chance to escape a life of exploitation or get justice before th...eir lives were taken. Sadly, it's not surprising that a sex buyer would lash out in violence against the women he consumes. Violence is incredibly common among buyers, and the mortality rate of women in prostitution is 200 times higher than the general population of women. And since minorities in America are generally more vulnerable to exploitation, these are the communities who suffer most. TAG Roku (@Roku)! Tell them to stop hosting a private Pornhub channel! Roku, the #1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., currently hosts a private channel for Pornhub. Two child trafficking survivors, along with six law firms, just filed a class action lawsuit against Pornhub/MindGeek for distributing and profiting from videos of their sexual abuse. When Jane Doe #1 was 16 years old, she was drugged and raped by a man in Alabama who filmed the abuse and uploaded it to Pornhub. This perpetrator then used the site's Modelhub program to earn profits from these videos, both for himself and Pornhub. Jane Doe #2's trafficking began at age 14 and ...when she was still a minor, a trafficker forced her to participate in filmed sex acts with adults. These videos were upload and distributed via Pornhub and Redtube, both owned by MindGeek. Four different videos of her exploitation have been found. This is at least the third lawsuit to be filed against Pornhub/MindGeek by survivors in the past two months and it is believed that more are coming. In yet another game-changing Senate bill, Senators Jeff Merkley and Ben Sasse recently introduced the Stop Internet Sexual Exploitation Act, which would require platforms hosting porn to verify the identity of users who upload videos and require a signed consent form from every individual appearing in a video. This bipartisan law would provide critical protection from exploitation on sites like Pornhub, which currently have no reliable method of consent verificationthat's on...e of the primary reasons that rape, trafficking, and revenge porn videos continue to be discovered on the site. The posting of intimate photos and videos without participants’ consent is a massive invasion of privacy that drives shame, humiliation, and potentially suicide, said Senator Merkley. Senator Sasse added, "For years, Pornhub and its parent company MindGeek monetized rape, abuse, and child exploitation. While these suit-wearing traffickers got rich, their victims have lived with the pain and fear. That has to end now. Our bill is aimed squarely at the monsters who profit from rape. Washington ought to be able to come together to combat human trafficking and make this right. This legislation would also prohibit video downloads and require platforms to provide a system for victims to be able to get their videos removed within two hours of request. We celebrate this bill and believe it can help provide a significant amount of protection from sexual exploitation online. US Senators just introduced a bipartisan bill that would allow victims of non-consensual content to sue sites who distribute itlike Pornhub. The new bill was introduced by Republican Senator Josh Hawley with support from Democratic Senator Maggie Hassan. The law would make it illegal for websites to knowingly distribute videos of sex acts in which victims were coerced or tricked into it, or in which they didn't consent for the footage to be shared. This would create a powerf...ul avenue of justice for countless victims whose rape and trafficking videos have been widely distributed on Pornhub. "Currently, it is extremely difficult for survivors to remove the harmful imagery from the public sphere permanently. Our bipartisan bill would create a legal pathway in federal court for victims to obtain just compensation from the person who shared their images without their consent, and to compel the removal of those images," shared Senator Hassan. Former Pornhub moderators are blowing the whistle about the horrific demands placed on them by the company and how they were required to watch up to 1200 videos per shiftwhich is mathematically impossible. This demonstrates clear criminal negligence and reckless disregard for the safety of those featured in the millions of videos they profit from, and makes a mockery of Pornhub's consistent claim that they have an "extensive team of moderators." One former moderator describe...d how their job was to "find weird excuses not to remove" videos including incest and rape, and told of how their job would induce burn out and panic attacks. Daily Mail reported "They spoke of managers who felt 'untouchable' boasting of soaring profits at all-staff meetings and who took too long to report and remove concerning content." These reports confirm what we've been saying for the past year: Pornhub's wildly inefficient moderating system welcomes exploitation, all while they turn a profit from 115 million daily visits.
