eTrac recently surveyed a body of water no surveyor has been before! The body of water was created from an eroding glacier (Berry Glacier). Check out our recent article feature: https://www.nauticalcharts.noaa.gov//noaa-bathymetric-dat/ #glacier #survey #alaska

There are worse places to conduct field workOur Alaska field crew just finished up full hydrographic surveys (bathy, LiDAR, topo, and control) of 7 areas spread out around Kodiak Island. #surveylife #thealaskalife

R/V Endeavor recently wrapped up over 2 months of working 24 hours/7 days a week in Lake Michigan for a NOAA contract with @geodynamics_nc. Part of survey area was along the famous Chicago shoreline! #chicago #lakeshoredrive #NOAA @ Lake Michigan, Chicago Lakefront

R/V Endeavor has been mapping the Chicago shoreline for the last few weeks. On a single day, they passed all these balloons floating in Lake Michigan. In order to say on track with data collection one of our team members invented a fork-pole hybrid tool in order to reach the balloons and pull them onto the boat while staying on survey line. Remember that balloons that float away will fall back down and usually end up in bodies of water. Next time, try an eco-friendly route to making wishes or celebrating. Let’s keep our waters clean! #banballoons #cleanwater #lakemichigan @ Lake Michigan, Chicago Lakefront

eTrac regularly performs pipeline inspection surveys across the country. Our datasets are meticulously analyzed in a variety of softwares in order to identify and image features for the clients in the best possible way. The software imaged here uses a gray color scale which allows features to pop in the contrasting shades. #underwaterutility #pipelines #multibeam

eTrac conducted a survey in a freshwater area where we imaged over a dozen wrecks - some charted and other not (yet). Since freshwater preserves wood, some of these wrecks have been there since the 1800s!

This week eTrac attended the 2020 NOAA Field Procedures Workshop, which is a week-long conference focused around hydrographic survey requirements and new technologies for NOAA charting contracts. David Neff presented eTrac's innovative workflow for our 2019 NOAA charting contract in the Straits of Mackinac, MI. The project included three vessels equipped with dual-head multibeam sonars and two autonomous survey vessels with multibeam sonars to collect a total of 317 square nautical miles. Throughout data acquisition, eTrac updated a custom tracking GIS website with data coverage as well as interesting wrecks for NOAA to monitor. eTrac is excited to announce we have been awarded our second 5-year NOAA charting contract! #NOAA #noaacontractor #hydrographicsurvey #charting

Have you ever had to blow torch your way into a boat? There’s a first for everything! This month our surveyors went to south east Alaska to complete a geophysical survey. Winter conditions aside, we mobilized and collected sub-bottom and multibeam data through snow storms, negative temperatures, freezing fog, and frozen sea spray. Great job team! #surveylife #thealaskalife
