Treatment plan: The patient is being treated with Full upper and lower braces and an upper Bite plate due to severe deep bite, crowding, Incisors tipped lingually and lateral incisors size/shape discrepancy. The deep bite was causing pt lower teeth to bite into the roof of the mouth. A deep bite can cause wear on the upper and lower teeth and can cause damage to teeth and gums if left untreated. We are so excited for how much progress has been accomplished and we can’t wait to see the end result! PHASE ONE before & after: . This patient had a deep bite with the lower teeth impinging on the upper palatal tissue and the upper teeth were protrusive (projecting forward). . The patient received treatment for 18 months with an upper bite plate expander retainer and lower partial braces. ... . Teeth that are protrusive are at risk for accidents breaking the teeth, speech problems, the inability to close the mouth and lips; which can cause dried out oral tissue that can lead to tooth decay. . This is a common bite problem in young children and most likely will not self correct and if left untreated, could get worse over time. . The goal of Phase One treatment is to correct any bite problems so that the jaws line up correctly to create a healthy bite while the child is still growing. .
